Job Summary
An Occupational Therapist at an Early Intervention Clinic (EIC) provides therapeutic support to children with developmental delays or disabilities.The OT assesses motor, sensory, and cognitive skills to create individualized treatment plans that foster functional independence and development. Through play-based and sensory-focused therapy, the OT helps improve motor skills, self-care abilities, and social-emotional growth. They collaborate closely with families and caregivers, offering strategies to support the child's progress in daily environments like home and day-care.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct comprehensive developmental assessments for children of all ages, identifying motor, sensory, cognitive, and social-emotional needs.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans (ITPs) for children, incorporating sensory integration, motor development, and functional play.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (e.g., speech therapists, physical therapists, doctor) to deliver holistic care.
• Provide parent/caregiver education and strategies to support the child's development in the home environment.
• Use play-based therapy to foster developmental milestones such as fine/gross motor coordination, sensory processing, and self-care skills.
• Advocate for inclusion and accessibility for children in preschool, daycare, and community environments.
• Monitor and document the child's progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed to ensure effective outcomes.
Qualifications:
• Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• Valid state license to practice Occupational Therapy.
• Certification with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) preferred.
• Experience in pediatric rehabilitation, with a strong understanding of early childhood development and recovery principles.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to work collaboratively with families, patients, and multidisciplinary teams.
Skills & Competencies:
• Expertise in assessing and treating developmental delays, sensory processing issues, and functional disabilities in children (EIC).
• Knowledge of rehabilitation techniques for patients recovering from injury, surgery, or medical conditions (Rehab Center).
• Proficiency in designing customized therapy programs and documenting progress.
• Ability to work with adaptive equipment and assistive technology.
• Creativity, compassion, and patience in addressing diverse patient needs across age groups.
Preferred Experience:
• 1-2 years of experience in pediatric occupational therapy and rehabilitation therapy for adults.
• Knowledge of Early Intervention programs, state and federal guidelines, and rehabilitation best practices.
