Job Summary

Himalaya Medical College and Hospital is seeking a dedicated Nursing Assistant (Infection Control) to join our Infection Control team. The role involves supporting healthcare staff in preventing and controlling healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) by implementing infection control policies, monitoring hygiene practices, and providing direct patient care under the supervision of licensed medical personnel.

Key Responsibilities

• Infection Control Practices :
• Assist in implementing and adhering to infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols across all hospital units.
• Ensure all medical equipment and surfaces are cleaned and disinfected according to hospital policies.
• Patient Care :
• Provide support to nursing staff in delivering basic patient care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and repositioning patients.
• Monitor patients for any signs of infection and promptly report them to the nursing or medical team.
• Monitoring and Documentation :
• Record and monitor patient data related to infection control, such as isolation room entries, patient hygiene routines, and sterilization logs.
• Document any incidents of potential exposure and assist with follow-up procedures.
• Education and Compliance :
• Educate patients and visitors on infection prevention practices, including proper hand hygiene and use of protective equipment.
• Encourage and model compliance with infection control guidelines among staff and visitors.
• Support to Infection Control Team :
• Collaborate closely with the Infection Control Nurse and other healthcare professionals to identify and mitigate infection risks.
• Participate in infection control audits, staff training sessions, and emergency response protocols for infection outbreaks.

Qualifications

• Educational Requirement :
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification or equivalent is preferred.
• Experience :
• Prior experience in a healthcare or hospital setting, particularly in infection control or patient care, is preferred.
• Skills and Competencies :
• Strong understanding of hygiene, sterilization, and infection control practices.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and protocols with accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach to patient care.
• Physical stamina to work in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Working Conditions

• Work Hours : Shift-based, with flexibility for rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Physical Demands : Extended periods of standing, walking, and assisting patients with mobility.
• Safety Measures : Must adhere to all hospital safety guidelines, including PPE usage and hygiene protocols.
