•Newsweek• is looking for a newsletter and briefings producer to help expand our portfolio in our mission to make Newsweek.com a destination for those seeking common ground on important topics and content that is informative and engaging.



The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for identifying reader trends quickly and reacting promptly to create new offerings that drive high click-throughs and pageviews in a newsletter format. This role requires a deep understanding of U.S. and international news, as well as current trends in pop culture and politics.



The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, curating, and writing compelling aggregated news updates, composing engaging subject lines, and ensuring newsletters and related articles are published on time and error-free. You will execute email engagement and content strategies as defined by the Director of Audience, monitor email metrics, and make necessary adjustments to ensure continued audience growth and success. Additional tasks and special editorial projects will be assigned as needed. This position demands comfort with changing technology, the ability to use metrics to measure audience success, and the capacity to make independent decisions under tight deadlines.




Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


• Be an excellent writer and have sharp news judgment
• Be able to provide writing samples or a portfolio showcasing your ability to write engaging content
• Be able to share how you would help elevate our brand in the newsletter space
• Have proven experience in content curation, preferably in a newsletter or similar role
• Have familiarity with email marketing platforms (e.g. Sailthru) is a plus
• Be comfortable with using real-time tools data and embracing AI technology to help research and identify trends and topics for coverage
• Have familiarity with building and working with news feeds
• Have experience optimizing content for search engines to improve organic visibility
• Have strong cross-collaboration skills to develop newsletter themes and concepts
• Launch new newsletters to build daily and/or weekly appointments with the •Newsweek• audience
• Assist the social team in promoting various newsletters across platforms
• Develop a relationship with •Newsweek's• audience and engage more people more often
• Help turn briefing journalism into habit-forming behavior with audiences and user subscriptions
• Experience writing and editing newsletter products
• A firm grasp of email newsletter trends and best practices, with a keen understanding of where the industry is heading
• Solid knowledge of AP Style




Preferred additional qualifications:


• Proven experience in writing newsletters and/or briefings
• Demonstrable knowledge of audience growth strategies and how to drive high click-throughs and pageviews
• Strong understanding of U.S. and international news cycles, as well as pop culture and politics
• Excellent writing and editing skills with a solid grasp of grammar and AP Style
• Familiarity with email marketing platforms (e.g., Sailthru) is a plus
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technology platforms
• Strong cross-collaboration skills and ability to work as part of a team
• Experience with content curation and news aggregation
• Ability to optimize content for search engines
• Proven ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Knowledge of media law
• Willingness to work in a dynamic, fast-paced 24/7 news environment
