Technical Lead, Networks

Position Summary

The role will be responsible for the ongoing support and reliability of all aspects of the LSEG ecosystem (Platforms, Networks, Applications, Services, and Websites). The focus of this role is to provide 4th-line support to the operations team and project delivery functions, ensuring operational stability and ongoing robustness of the LSEG global network. Key responsibilities are creating and maintaining software automation that provides the reliability and availability of digital platforms and their software delivery pipelines.

Role Responsibilities

• Supports the technology lifecycle through the design, build and maintenance of systems, software and applications to ensure the highest quality outcomes across the domains.
• Makes technical design and amendment decisions and independently manages the workload.
• Translates business requirements into technical requirements and infrastructure and network capacity needs by sourcing data and undertaking appropriate analyses.
• Ensures relevant reporting documentation is completed and complies with internal and external standards.
• Schedules and coordinates capacity / network upgrades, liaising with other areas of the business as needed to ensure service level objectives are met.
• Manages upgrades and coordinates internal and third parties where required.
• Creates accurate documentation and monitors system performance to effectively contribute to business and continual improvement activities.
• Supports in deploying emergent engineering patterns across development teams.
• Oversees design work in the infrastructure and network domain and contributes to creating solutions.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent in an IT related discipline
• Previous experience in Architecture / Engineering
• Significant experience in technology-based roles
• Extensive knowledge of routing and switching protocols (CCIE preferred)
• Demonstrable 7+ years of experience in network operations and project delivery with ideally Cisco, Juniper and Arista and working towards further accreditation
• Strong Network routing and switching skills including LAN, WAN, HSRP, NAT, MPLS, VPN, GRE, BGP and OSPF
• Good knowledge of multicast including IGMP, RP and PIM
• Knowledge of low latency and associated technologies as deployed in the financial sector.
• Excellent knowledge of network packet analysing and pack capture tools
• Good knowledge and experience with Data Centre Networking including (Software-Defined Networking (SDN), Cisco ACI, VxLAN, etc.
• Experience in Cloud and good understanding of network security, including best practices.
• Understanding on load balancing technologies, TCP/IP and Multicast, and internet environments
• Good knowledge of required Service Management process, ideally ITIL knowledgeable.
• Proven exposure to financial sector and associated technologies
• Good scripting and automation experience (Python & Ansible)
• Excellent spoken and written English language skills with client management skills.
