As a Network Engineer (Tools/Automation) , you will work on multiple projects and products to improve network operations and stability. The focus is on proactive error/log finding and using that information to resolve issues before they impact our clients. Your responsibility includes developing processes for Network Configuration Management, re/Post output captures, Network Monitoring, Network Security, and log/packet inspection (Splunk).


You will work on improving how we use our current tools and analyzing new tools. You will work with many different teams and application owners to improve how we can catch network-related events and help application owners find issues related to their applications.


Through initiative, leadership and teamwork, this individual will create productive relationships with business units and internal IT teams. This position will have the opportunity to perform tactical decision-making that supports the strategic direction of IT and the Network team. This person will exercise these responsibilities in compliance with the company's policies and industry best practices.

Requirements



• Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field or equivalent experience
• 6+ years of overall information technology experience
• 5+ years of experience with networking and security technologies
• 2+ years working with Splunk
• 2+ years working as an automation/tooling engineer in the retail environment support is a must
• Experience using Splunk as a proactive and troubleshooting tool
• Experience with Network automation using VBS, Ansible, or Python
• Experience with Network monitoring tools, such as Solarwinds
• Solid background in troubleshooting Layer 2-7 network technologies and quickly/automatically finding errors
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required to communicate with leadership
• Must be results-orientated, self-motivated and possess high-energy

Nice to have



• Network infrastructure programming via API (JSON, YAML, Rest, etc.)
• Experience with network management protocols and enterprise services (SNMP, AAA, DNS, Syslog)
• Experience with Azure automation and orchestration
• Business Analyst experience

Responsibilities



• Proactively identify, isolate and resolve network problems to avoid minimal impact on the business
• Work closely with business and application owners on design, troubleshooting, support, and documentation of new application deployment and enhancements
• Design monitoring best practices for all network infrastructure services (PANs, Fortinet, Cisco Switches, F5, etc.)
• Evaluate new and emerging network management and security tools, products, and technologies
• Engineer application and network designs to ensure compliance with corporate security policies and security best practices
• Attend planning meetings, including outage review, Discovery/Discovery Results/Architecture Council and provide suggestions on how to improve/prevent outages
• Create end-to-end project tasks and expect to be accountable for the entire project's completion
• Configure and install network and security-related hardware and software
• Provide day-to-day support of the LAN (Cisco), WAN, and WLAN
• Perform scheduled and emergency network maintenance
• Manage and maintain network and security documentation through collaborative applications
• Work with application owners on troubleshooting issues, even though it may not be network related issue
• Provide strong customer service and facilitate collaboration between project teams and clients.
• Perform internal audits and reviews to ensure compliance with all security
• Create and update Jiras for Kanban and project-related tasks
