Summary
This role is to work closely with our various server, application and database administrators as part of our Backup Support team to maintain and monitor backup software and hardware. As a NetBackup administrator, you will work with Veritas NetBackup products and applications. Your responsibilities include making software upgrades and updates, troubleshooting backup issues, root cause analysis, and ensuring the security of backup systems. This role will support architectural development and also deployment of new installations, cutting-edge technology and forward-thinking solutions in an ever-expanding backup environment within a continuous improvement organization. It will include break/fix as a second/third level technical consultant during day-to-day operations and off-hours support on a rotational basis.
Job Duties:
Work with the operational and engineering teams to understand requirements and specifications.
The position requires excellent teaming and communication skills as you will work within a global organization and with all levels of technical experience. You will provide support and mentoring to our level 1 and 2 teams and will work with people from numerous global locations, and cultures. A keen aptitude for all technologies is a must as well as an ability to understand and work within NCR VOYIX's overall infrastructure architecture.
Key Responsibilities• Develop/implement backup solutions within the NCR VOYIX environment as well as understanding the newest product trends to enable assistance to the backup architecture initiatives.
• Maintain the backup environment to a defined availability target, working as part of a global support team, with off hours on-call requirements on a weekly rotational basis.
• Diagnose technical and operational software problems on installed systems with resolution within defined SLA's.
• Diagnose and solve backup storage hardware problems, working with our vendors as applicable
• Plan and/or schedule installations of new backup hardware and associated supporting peripherals.
• Plan and test new releases and software products, and coordinate upgrade projects.
• Monitor, track and compare system performance using software-based testing, monitoring and analysis tools.
• Present verbal and written technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Provide input and technical content and regularly review procedural documentation.


Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems or a related field or equivalent job experience.
Must be able to productively with others.
Skill Set• Veritas Netbackup administration
• UNIX and Windows Operating System administration, VMWare, Oracle, SQL and Cloud.
• Dell Data Domain
• Nutanix backups via Cloudpoint
• Experience with scripting and Ansible
• Ability to perform RPM packaging is a plus.
• Experience scripting solutions for one-time activities and to automate repetitive tasks.
• Strong analytical background with ability to communicate results through metrics.
• Creativity, innovation, and the ability to think out of box in problem solving, root cause analysis and solution generation.
• Experience in working operation team in rotational shift
