Organizational Setting FAO is implementing the project \'Establishment of a network of information systems on agriculture and food and nutrition security in the Indian Ocean islands (Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles)\', STAT SANOI, GCP/MAG/095/EC, funded by the European Union The main expected outputs are: (1) national information systems collect and produce data and information on food and nutrition security, (2) regional platform supports the activities of national information systems in the identification, collection and production of harmonized food security data and information, and (3) information coordination and national capacities for quantitative analysis of food and nutrition security are improved. The project coordination is based at the FAO Representation in Madagascar and the activities are implemented in the four countries. The project, which supports data collection and statistical analyses of national statistical offices, will contribute to a better understanding of issue surrounding agriculture and food and nutrition security (FNS), improved monitoring of national food systems, such that policymakers and stakeholders can more easily access the information needed to monitor agricultural and FNS issues and prepare evidence-based policies. Reporting Lines The incumbent will carry out the activities in support of the national technical services that are partners of the project, and the national expert will support the capacity building activities of these partners. He/she will work in close collaboration with the FAO technical team, under the supervision of the regional project coordinator of STAT SANOI based at the FAO representation in Madagascar. Technical Focus FAO is recruiting a national specialist to support the implementation of the Stat SANOI project activities in Seychelles. Tasks And Responsibilities The incumbent will support the implementation and monitoring of project activities in the country. Support the collection of updated data from the different national partners, the harmonization, analysis and visualization of data. Support the organization of surveys for data collection in the country. Support the preparation of synthesis publications about agriculture and food and nutrition security in the country. Support the organization of meetings, workshops, training, and international technical assistance missions. Participate in the drafting of reports related to the project activities in the country. Other related duties as required. CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING Minimum Requirements Master\'s degree or higher in economics, statistics, or other relevant scientific fields. At least 5 years\' experience in data analysis, preferably in the areas of agriculture, food and nutrition security or poverty. Working knowledge of English (level C) and limited knowledge of French (level B). Nationality of Seychelles or resident in the country with a regular work permit. Proficiency in statistical analysis and micro/macro data management. Have a good command of analytical software such as STATA.
