Join GlobalLogic, to be a valid part of the team working on a huge software project for the world-class company providing M2M / IoT 4G/5G modules e.g. to the automotive, healthcare and logistics industries. Through our engagement, we contribute to our customer in developing the end-user modules\xe2\x80\x99 firmware, implementing new features, maintaining compatibility with the newest telecommunication and industry standards, as well as performing analysis and estimations of the customer requirements.

Requirements:

SUMMARY

The DBA is responsible for the monitoring, installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting and maintenance of database solutions. DBA provide technical support, troubleshoot problems, perform database related maintenance tasks to ensure stable and efficient operation of technology solutions.

COMPETENCIES (Skills and Abilities)

• Firm understanding of database operations in a multi-platform environment leveraging MySQL, Redshift, Dynamo, MS SQL Server.

• Experience designing and managing databases in an AWS Cloud environment.

• Experience in query tuning and understanding of SQL execution plans in a multi-platform environment.

• Experience with Mongo and/or Snowflake is a plus but not required.

• Experience building effective monitoring, alerts, and metrics for production services in an AWS environment (Cloudwatch, Splunk).

• Experience upgrading, migrating, and modifying AWS databases and their structures.

• Experience using AWS Services such as RDS, DMS, EC2, IAM, Route53, Lambda, Cloudwatch, and SNS

• Experience with Azure database cloud services is a plus but not required.

• Understanding of the Linux and Windows operating system

• Understanding of online transaction processing vs reporting as it relates to database performance.

• Experience in scripting with Json, Bash, or Python.

• Experience and/or knowledge of working in a 24/7 production environment.

• Excellent communication, prioritization, and analytical skills.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced and agile development environment

• Initiative with the ability to see opportunities for improvement; take ownership and closely work with the appropriate teams to implement improvements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in computer science and/or related years of experience

• 5 plus years in relational database management systems support, multiple vendor support preferred

• 5 plus years practical work experience in a server administration, network administration, supporting information technology systems

• 5 plus years in database configuration and administration (installation, backups, maintenance, etc.)

• 5 plus years supporting developers, administering apps, etc

Job Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Performs installation, monitoring, testing, configuration, migration, maintenance and troubleshooting of assigned technologies.

• Manages system/application environment and ongoing operations.

• Ensures that the technologies are updated with current, stable, and compliant architecture and applications that meet enterprise standards.

• Researches, designs, implements and tests technology solutions.

• Proactively monitors and reports performance and utilization of assigned technologies.

• Resolves alerts and performs remediation activities.

• Manages problem or escalated tickets and tasks and out of cycle requests from systems/software owners.

• Collects and presents data for reporting and planning.

• Assists with developing tactical strategies, processes and procedures related to database administration.

• Determines migration and upgrade impacts and diagnose/resolve complex database errors.

• Collaborates with IT and business area partners on work groups and initiatives.

• Determines best course of action for meeting business needs.

• May provide input into infrastructure architecture designs.

• Develops scripts/programs to aid in the automation and deployment of systems and administrative procedures.

• May participate in Disaster Recovery planning and exercises.

• Ensures execution and alignment to architectural standards and blueprints.

• May contribute input to infrastructure architecture.
