The Multi-Skilled Technician is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance, repair, and installation tasks across multiple technical disciplines. This role ensures the proper functioning of equipment, systems, and machinery within an organization, reducing downtime and contributing to overall operational efficiency. The technician will work on electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and other systems, offering support in both planned and emergency situations.
Key Responsibilities :
• Maintenance and Repairs :
• Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on equipment, machinery, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and other facilities infrastructure.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing faults quickly and efficiently.
• Perform regular checks and maintenance on critical systems to ensure they meet safety and operational standards.
• Installation :
• Install new equipment, machinery, and systems according to manufacturer instructions and safety protocols.
• Assist with the setup and installation of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems for new projects or upgrades.
• Ensure installations are completed within the specified timeframe and to the required standards.
• System Upgrades and Modifications :
• Work with senior engineers or management to implement upgrades or modifications to existing systems and equipment.
• Ensure that systems are functioning efficiently after any upgrade or modification.
• Make recommendations for improvements to enhance performance or safety.
• Troubleshooting and Diagnostics :
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and perform diagnostic tests to identify the root cause of equipment or system failures.
• Resolve technical issues quickly to minimize operational downtime.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance work, including parts and labor used.
• Health, Safety, and Compliance :
• Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety standards, local regulations, and industry best practices.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols while performing repairs or installations.
• Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or hazards to the management team.
• Documentation and Reporting :
• Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, including work completed, parts used, and any follow-up actions required.
• Complete work orders and document progress on tasks as needed.
• Provide regular reports on equipment performance and maintenance activities to management.
• Collaboration and Communication :
• Work closely with other departments (e.g., production, facilities, or engineering teams) to coordinate maintenance schedules and tasks.
• Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and external vendors regarding maintenance or repair issues.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians or apprentices.
• Emergency Response :
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests or breakdowns, ensuring the issue is resolved swiftly to prevent operational disruptions.
• Be available for on-call duties or work outside of regular hours when necessary to ensure systems are functioning.
• Inventory and Supply Management :
• Monitor and maintain inventory levels of essential parts and materials for maintenance tasks.
• Order and ensure timely delivery of required tools, equipment, and spare parts.
• Keep track of parts used in repairs and ensure proper stock levels are maintained.
Skills and Qualifications :
• High school diploma or equivalent (a technical certification or degree in a relevant field is often required).
• Proven experience in maintenance, repairs, or installations across multiple technical disciplines (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.).
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
• Experience with a variety of tools and machinery.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Attention to detail and a focus on quality work.
Desirable Qualifications :
• Technical certifications (e.g., electrical, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical).
• Previous experience in facilities management or in a technical role that involves multi-disciplinary work.
• Experience working with automated systems or machinery.
