Summary: What you need to know about the role- The primary role of the MTS1, Software Engineer on the Pricing Data and Insights Team is to provide technical and domain expertise in the design and delivery of backend services and batches in Java, Spark, BIG Query, GCP etc. Meet our team Pricing Data and Insights team is responsible for calculating various metrics based on the historical transaction in bunch of dimension which is used in real time price calculation. We owns Java and Spark batches that pulls data from real time into analytical zone and generates metrics. Also we own REST services that exposes these metrics to clients. Also we own Pricing Insights platform which provides required insights in dashboard : Your way to impact This is an opportunity to be a technical leader within the Pricing Data and Insights Team and PayPal in general. You will work closely with product and business functions to come up with optimal solutions to drive key revenue, growth, and compliance initiatives. You will get an opportunity to work on one of PayPal\'s most important analytical data pipeline called Pricing Insights Your day to day In your day-to-day role, you will: Design, build and operate scalable Java and Spark batches and REST services that are critical in data processing in PayPal Build and take operational responsibility of back end services and batches that handles huge volume of data Be a valued member of an autonomous, cross-functional agile team, contributing to design and code reviews Mentor other engineers on the team and provide technical leadership What do you need to bring 9 plus years of designing backend and mid-tier services using Spring Boot, REST API, Java technologies 6 plus year in Design and building highly scalable distributed services capable of handling very high volume of data using Hadoop eco system, Spark Streaming, HIVE Strong In-depth knowledge of Hadoop technology ecosystem - HDFS, Spark, Hive, Impala, HBase, Kafka, Shell Scripting, Oracle and Data pipeline Strong understanding of real time streaming technologies Spark and Kafka Hands-on experience in tuning and writing scalable sql queries 6+ years\' experience in development of large scale and distributed fault tolerant enterprise applications using Hadoop and related open-source Big Data Technologies such as Spark, Spark Streaming, Spark Sql, Hive, HBase, YARN, etc. Experience in Java based spark programming is preferred Experience in building scalable real time systems and streaming solutions is preferred Strong skills in Server-Side Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Spring Batch, Spring JDBCTemplate, REST, Maven, Github, and other open sources Java Libraries. Database design, programming, tuning and query optimization. Test methodologies and testing tools, e.g., TestNG, JUnit. Experience with Linux/Unix and shell scripting Experience in developing and deploying a scalable system Ability to collaborate effectively with remote teams across time zones is essential Experience with all aspects of big data systems including database design, ETL, and monitoring A track record of delivering scalable big data-based solutions Experience following the Agile methodologies Great verbal and written communication skills when providing status reports and presenting to leadership.
