In this role, you will:

  • Support the project initiatives and ensure appropriate level of messaging (MQ) support is provided to resolve infrastructure issues during the various lifecycle phases.
  • Understand and apply standards, best practices to ensure compliance and consistently maintain quality in deliverables.
  • Comply with the processes in place and ensure the agreed service levels are met with the expected level of quality
  • Review the processes proactively & consistently to implement improvement plans and to support organization objectives for efficiency.
  • Ensure high availability of services.
  • Understand business requirements and technical specifications to prioritize incidents
  • Follow best practices while addressing issues
  • Apply performance monitoring / tuning methodologies to investigate issues reported for messaging (MQ).
  • Participate in crisis calls, DQR, and MIR as applicable following the appropriate guidelines & etiquettes
  • Own the resolution of problems, demonstrate analytical and problem management skills to drive the resolution and prevent recurrence.
  • Understand the escalation matrix & escalate issues in a timely manner, where necessary.
  • Ready to work in 24x7 support environment.
  • Understanding the business services HSBC offers & respective architecture and criticality
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

Essential technical skills: * Knowledge about messaging concepts listed below:
  • Distributed queuing
  • MQ clustering
  • Complete awareness of MQ message flows and MQ architecture.
  • Troubleshooting of the incidents occurred in the MQ environment (Production & Test Environment)
  • Knowledge of MQ on SSL implementation
  • MQ client-server knowledge.
  • Resolve authorization and connectivity problems.
  • Knowledge of MQI calls
  • Backup and Recovery of the MQ objects/messages
  • MQ Contingency practices
  • Understanding of MQ monitoring and configuration.
  • 4+ years of strong practical experience with MQ in Production Environment.
  • Good knowledge of Unix/Windows operating systems and commands
  • Basic knowledge on shell scripting & networking principles.
Good-to-have technical skills: * Experience in MQ administration on Mainframes/I-series
  • Knowledge of IBM Tivoli Monitoring, MQ IPT and other messaging products
  • Other middleware technologies like datapower, webtechnologies, etc.
  • Integration platforms like Mulesoft, Kong etc.
  • DevOps/Automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Jenkins, GitHub etc.
  • Basic knowledge about cloud computing frameworks like AWS, GCP, Azure etc.

  • Ability to work independently, take responsibility and be a self-learner
  • Interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in an international environment and across cultures
