The Role:
Working as part of the Global IT Infrastructure department as a Modern Workplace Engineer and supporting c.100k users across four regions, you will be at the forefront of deploying and managing cutting-edge solutions that leverage Microsoft 365 (M365) and Azure technologies. Your role will focus on enhancing our workplace environment through the design, implementation, and optimization of these platforms to ensure seamless collaboration, communication, and productivity across the organization.
Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager - Modern Workplace, you will be accountable for championing cloud services and ensuring that they are seamlessly delivered to our business customers. You should be able to plan, analyse, design, test and deploy enterprise-scale Cloud, IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS solutions.
This is a global role, supporting the Cognita Group of Companies and schools throughout the world.
Key Accountability:
• Design and implement modern workplace solutions, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft 365 and Azure services
• Manage and support Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and other M365 applications to foster collaboration and efficiency
• Ensure the security, compliance, and governance of the M365 and Azure environments
• Provide L3 support and troubleshoot complex issues related to identity, messaging, and cloud services.
• Collaborate with regional IT teams to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the modern workplace ecosystem
• Staying up to date with cloud technologies to ensure that Cognita is provided with the best service and cloud application solutions.
• Providing solutions across all IT departments to support projects and future technologies.
• Monitor and drive efficiency across support ticket queues, helping to ensure that all tickets are correctly prioritized, updated and resolved within SLA.
• Configure and maintain identity management solutions, such as Entra ID / Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) and Conditional Access, to enforce secure user authentication and access policies. Deploy role-based access controls (RBAC) to ensure proper access control and authorization.
• Ensure all documentation is kept updated and relevant knowledge bases reflect the latest changes.
• Actively participate in critical incidents, coordinating with resolution parties, and establishing effective communication between stakeholders for post-incident reviews
• Support the adoption and administration of the latest Windows operating systems within the organization
• Utilize Microsoft tools for Unified Endpoint Management (UEM), including Intune, EntraID, Azure Virtual Desktop, and Windows365
• Implement and configure MDM policies using Microsoft Intune or other EMS tools to manage and secure mobile devices across various platforms.
### Requirements
• Proven experience in Microsoft Azure and Modern Workplace with a focus on implementing client solutions.
• Strong expertise in Microsoft cloud services, including Azure and Microsoft 365.
• Strong knowledge of EMS technologies, including Azure Active Directory and Conditional Access.
• Familiarity with mobile device management (MDM), Microsoft Intune and application management concepts.
• Experience with identity and access management (IAM) principles and best practices.
• Strong understanding of information protection and data security.
• Experience in Azure Cloud Security, with a strong understanding of Azure security services and configurations.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using PowerShell, Azure CLI, or other relevant tools.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Experience in dealing with third-party provided services including outsourced / augmented teams.
• Ability to multitask and manage a large and varied workload and demonstrate high levels of self-organisation.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, able to effectively communicate with and influence both internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to quickly establish credibility & foster collaborative relationships across functional and geographically dispersed teams.
• High levels of energy, reliability, strong work ethic, attention to detail with the flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, work under pressure and deliver at pace.
