Position Title: Geologist - Mining

Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Geologist to join our mining team. The Geologist will be responsible for providing geological expertise and data to support mining exploration, development, and production activities. This includes conducting geological surveys, analyzing geological data, and providing insights into ore body characteristics and mineral resource estimation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mineralogy, structural geology, and geological mapping, with experience in both exploration and operational mining.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Geological Surveying & Mapping:
• Conduct geological surveys and mapping to evaluate and analyze the geological features of the mining site.
• Produce geological maps and cross-sections to assist in the interpretation of ore bodies and mineral deposits.
• Interpret geological data and collaborate with mine planners to enhance the mine's development plan.
2. Mineral Exploration:
• Identify and assess new mineral exploration opportunities.
• Oversee and interpret drill hole data, core logging, and sample collection.
• Conduct geological interpretation of drill results and integrate data into resource models.
• Assist with exploration drilling campaigns, ensuring effective data collection and accurate analysis.
3. Geotechnical Support:
• Collaborate with mining engineers and other professionals to provide geotechnical data for safe mine design and slope stability analysis.
• Analyze rock mechanics, hydrological data, and ground conditions to advise on safe excavation techniques and mine designs.
4. Environmental Considerations:
• Ensure that geological work complies with environmental regulations and contributes to the development of sustainable mining practices.
• Assess and monitor the environmental impacts of mining operations from a geological perspective.
5. Data Analysis & Reporting:
• Interpret geological data and present findings to stakeholders, including senior management, engineers, and external parties.
• Prepare technical reports on geological surveys, mineral exploration, and resource estimates.
• Ensure all geological data is properly documented and maintained.
6. Collaboration & Teamwork:
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including mine planners, engineers, environmental managers, and safety professionals.
• Provide geological support to production teams and help resolve any geological challenges encountered during mining operations.
Qualifications:
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Mining Geology, Earth Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
Experience:
• Minimum 3 to 5+ years of experience in the mining industry, with a focus on exploration and/or operational geology.
• Experience with geological software ( Surpac, Micromine, Datamine, Leapfrog) and geostatistical tools.
• Familiarity with drilling techniques, core logging, and sample analysis
Working Conditions:
• The position may require travel to remote mining sites and working in outdoor or challenging environmental conditions.
• Flexible working hours, including weekends or shift work, depending on project requirements.
