Position Title: Microbiologist
Department: Quality Assurance
Location: UNIQUE FOODS (A Unit of R K Agri Biz LLP), Muzaffarpur, Bihar
Reporting To: Quality Assurance Manager
Job Summary:
The Microbiologist will play a critical role in ensuring the microbiological safety and quality of fresh and processed fruits and vegetables. The incumbent will be responsible for monitoring, testing, and controlling microbial activity at various stages of production, storage, and distribution to meet regulatory and company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Microbiological Testing and Analysis
• Perform microbiological analysis of raw fruits, vegetables, processed products (e.g., purees, juices), and water samples.
• Identify and quantify microorganisms such as bacteria, yeast, and molds using standard microbiological techniques.
• Quality Control and Assurance
• Conduct routine checks on production environments to ensure compliance with hygiene and sanitation standards.
• Implement and monitor Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Contamination Prevention
• Develop and enforce protocols to minimize microbial contamination during handling, processing, and storage of fruits and vegetables.
• Investigate contamination incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Product Safety and Compliance
• Ensure that all products comply with food safety regulations (e.g., FSSAI, HACCP, ISO 22000).
• Prepare and submit microbiological reports for regulatory bodies and internal audits.
• Research and Development
• Assist in developing new preservation techniques, improving shelf life, and enhancing product quality through microbial control.
• Support R&D in testing new processing technologies and ingredients for their microbial impact.
• Documentation and Reporting
• Maintain accurate records of all microbiological tests, observations, and corrective actions.
• Prepare detailed reports on microbial quality for internal and external stakeholders.
• Training and Awareness
• Train production staff on hygiene practices and the importance of microbiological safety.
• Conduct awareness programs on microbial risks and prevention methods.
Required Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor's/Master's degree in Microbiology, Food Science, or a related field.
• Experience: 2-4 years of experience in microbiological analysis, preferably in fruits and vegetable processing or food manufacturing.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in microbiological testing techniques (e.g., culture, PCR).
• Familiarity with food safety standards like HACCP, ISO 22000, and FSSAI.
