They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.Job Scope:Main Target Summary: Plan and coordinate engineering activities and supervise multiple teams, this role will require strong leadership skills and demonstrated product development experience in a global technology company to drive success in sustainment and new product development.Tasks Summary and Responsibilities:Build and manage diverse teams of engineers to execute engineering tasks
Grow engineering team with responsibility for a wide variety of product sustaining and engineering activities for the Data and Devices Business Unit.
Perform resource planning for required activities and work with Global Product families on resource requirements, hiring, future planning on sustaining and other engineering activities.
Be a strong technical partner and provide support to PM/Sales/FAE teams. Attend/support customer meetings, technology days and site visits as required.
Strives to improve efficiency and sustainability of processes and product designs
Empower team to grow and achieve results through supported development and coaching.
Monitor all business-critical engineering metrics with regular reports to management to show progress toward monthly/quarterly/annual goals.
Build future engineering capabilities and reward outstanding performance.
Model and foster TE core values and behaviors.Professional Experience and Qualifications:15+ years of related Engineering experience, Connectors/Cable assembly experience highly preferred.
Bachelor\'s degree in mechanical/electrical, or related engineering discipline.
Minimum 5 years management experience, with technical leadership skills for problem solving and conflict resolution.
Experience in Connectors/Cable assembly is highly preferred.
History of driving results with strong leadership skills, drive, and a willingness to roll up his/her sleeves to get the job done.
Excellent motivational skills: a person with the ability to set goals and inspire trust and confidence in team members to achieve the highest standards of performance in a dynamic fast paced environment, while maintaining a high level of expertise throughout the team.
