Job Description

merchandiser's job is to ensure that products are available in the right place at the right time, in the right quantities, and at the right price to boost sales and profits. Merchandisers perform a variety of tasks, including: Market research: Analyze sales data and consumer preferences to identify trends and predict demand Product assortment: Plan the range of products to carry in a store or department Pricing: Set or approve prices for products based on market trends and competitor pricing Visual displays: Create attractive displays to showcase products and attract customers Inventory management: Monitor inventory levels and submit reports Supplier relations: Work with suppliers and distributors to negotiate prices, order large volumes, and arrange delivery schedules Sales planning: Develop a sales plan for stocked products Customer feedback: Review customer feedback to predict sales trends and seasonal stock demand Store layout: Assess the effectiveness of different store layouts on sales figures Collaboration: Collaborate with executives, marketers, salespeople, buyers, and analysts Communication: Communicate customer problems to the company and collaborate with suppliers, manufacturers, and stores Merchandisers need to be quick-thinking, able to evaluate large amounts of data, and make sound decisions. They also need to have well-developed communication skills to build professional relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and stores.
