Role Description: To obtain information with respect to new product development, ensure that the style is developed for production, the sample is prepared for buyer approval, prepare the optimum bill of material and ensure that the appropriate sample of finished product are handed over to the production team and approved items for production are handed over to the relevant departments for production.Job Responsibilities:
Realises patterns as per specifications given by customer or sales manager
Prepares Bill of material and raises requisitions to stores
Ensures that the sample product is prepared by the designing team, keeping in mind the product and presents within the required time to the buyer team for approval.
Follows up customer comments and amendments until final approval of size sets
Maintains trim cards for all approved trims by customers,
Records and issues master patterns marked approved dated signed by patternist
Issues ready patterns to the production team across units
Issues approved measurement chart to production
Issues approved sample with all above information to production
Ensures that all items of production are handed over to the relevant department with appropriate instructions wrt. Style specifications (eg. Zipper lengths, poly & carton dimensions etc.)
Holds pre-production meeting for each style, for all units handling that style, to discuss critical issues for production (master/ stores/ production/ QC) and maintains minutes
Maintains styles file for each style with all relevant information from inception to production approval and hand over to production for future audits
Maintains style files with specifications for all items even if they do not get picked up for production
Documents the finishing process for the leather quality for each product
Works along with the stores team to ensure that leather and accessories are procured as per approved specifications given in the trim card
Works along with the production team to train the operating teams to ensure that the design is understood by all members of the cutting, stitching and finishing teams and the finished product matches the approved design.
Checks quality of materials and availability before finalizing design
Ensures proper storage of materials during work-in-progress.
Ensures all standard operating processes are adhered to at all times
Ensures safety, health and hygiene standards are maintained in the department at all times.
Maintains accuracy of BOM to ensure minimum wastage and prevent extra purchase of material during production
Ensures prompt response to internal customers from self and team at all times to ensure that production is never delayed on account of delay in the design process and all deadlines can be met.
Ensures regularity, punctuality and discipline of team members.
Reviews and monitors performance of team members
Enables training and development of team members
Keeps self, updated of latest trends, norms and best practices and implements continuous improvement.
Imparts training with respect to critical points during launch and monitoring implementation upto 1stoutput
