1. Patient Interaction
- Greet and assist patients as they arrive at the facility.
- Answer phone calls, schedule appointments, and manage patient inquiries.
- Guide patients on the check-in process and provide necessary information.
2. Appointment Management
- Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments as needed.
- Coordinate with medical staff to optimize schedules and ensure timely patient service.
- Send reminders to patients for upcoming appointments via phone, email, or text.
3. Patient Registration
- Collect and verify patient information and documentation upon arrival.
- Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Help new patients complete registration and insurance forms.
4. Insurance and Billing Assistance
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and coverage details.
- Explain billing processes, collect copays, and manage payment arrangements.
- Process billing inquiries and coordinate with billing departments as needed.
5. Communication and Coordination
- Relay information between patients, nurses, doctors, and other staff.
- Notify patients about delays or changes in appointments.
- Coordinate with lab, imaging, and other departments for scheduled services.
6. Administrative Duties
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception area.
- Order office supplies and ensure availability of necessary forms and materials.
- Handle mail, emails, and faxes relevant to patient care and administrative tasks.
7. Data Management and Compliance
- Update patient information and ensure confidentiality in line with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) standards.
- Keep accurate logs, including visitor sign-ins and patient check-ins.
8. Crisis Management and Support
- Assist in handling medical emergencies by notifying the appropriate staff.
- Provide emotional support to patients and families, as needed, during difficult times.
