THE POSITION: The Medical Editor works with copy and medical writers and account teams on issues of written clarity, accuracy, proper referencing, and appropriateness. The Medical Editor will proofread and copy edit all written material at required stages-including unbranded and branded advertising copy, product information, sales and training materials, medical education and collateral material, white papers, direct mail, website and interactive content, digital copy, and PowerPoint presentations-for correct grammar, spelling, message flow, and consistency while ensuring projects contain accurate data and that all pieces are free from error. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Our employees are tasked with delivering excellent business results through the efforts of their teams. These results are achieved by: Serves as back-up editor for several brands; depending on experience level, may also act as lead editor on his/her own brand(s) Ensures correct grammar, spelling, and usage, as well as adherence to AMA, agency, and client styles Ensures accuracy of data and claims by thoroughly fact checking references; works with Senior Medical Editor and Copywriter to resolve fact-checking issues Demonstrates a passion for clarity, an eye for detail, and be able to address issues of word flow, logic, and layout Ensures brand-specific style is consistent throughout jobs; maintains and updates assigned client style guides Works closely with team members to ensure materials are of the highest quality in terms of accuracy, utility, clarity, readability and appeal Participates in weekly status meetings for assigned accounts; works with supervisor to assess resource needs Acts as a resource for internal teams relative to AMA style and brand consistency Assists Copy and Client Services with tagging and linking of pieces to be submitted to client\'s Medical-Legal-Regulatory review committee, as needed Enforce editorial standards using approved resources Flag possible compliance issues as they arise Keep current on industry practices and regulatory requirements that affect medical content and copy All other duties as assigned MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The requirements listed below are representative of the experience, education, knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.
