2. Mental Health Support
• Managing Stress and Anxiety: Help patients manage anxiety, stress, and depression related to their medical conditions, such as through coping strategies or relaxation techniques.
• Supporting Behavioral Change: Work with patients to help them adopt healthy behaviors, especially for those dealing with substance abuse, eating disorders, or other lifestyle-related issues.
3. Treatment Plan Guidance
• Explaining Treatment Options: Clarify the medical treatment options presented by doctors, helping patients make informed decisions.
• Monitoring Progress: Ensure that patients are adhering to their treatment plans, whether that's medication, therapy, or lifestyle adjustments, and provide ongoing guidance as needed.
4. Collaboration with Healthcare Team
• Working with Doctors and Specialists: Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients.
• Referrals: Refer patients to other specialists, mental health counselors, or support groups as required based on their individual needs.
5. Crisis Management
• Dealing with Emergencies: Address patients in crisis situations, such as those with suicidal ideation, severe mental health issues, or acute medical conditions.
• Providing Immediate Support: Offer immediate intervention and support until appropriate care can be provided, or the situation is resolved.
6. Record Keeping and Documentation
• Maintaining Patient Records: Keep accurate records of patient sessions, treatment plans, progress notes, and any significant changes in mental or physical health.
• Confidentiality: Ensure all patient information is kept confidential and in line with healthcare privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
7. Advocacy and Patient Rights
• Ensuring Informed Consent: Ensure that patients understand their rights regarding medical treatment, consent, and confidentiality.
