Job Description

The Medical Coder is responsible for reviewing and translating healthcare services, procedures, diagnoses, and treatments into standardized codes used for billing and insurance purposes. This role requires a detailed understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and regulatory guidelines to ensure accurate and compliant coding.

Key Responsibilities:

• Code Medical Records: Accurately assign codes to diagnoses, procedures, and services using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
• Review Documentation: Examine patient records and documentation to ensure all services and procedures are correctly coded.
• Ensure Compliance: Adhere to coding guidelines, regulations, and payer requirements to ensure compliance and accuracy.
• Generate Reports: Prepare and submit coded information for billing and reimbursement purposes, and assist in generating reports as needed.
• Resolve Discrepancies: Identify and resolve coding discrepancies or errors, and collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation when necessary.
• Stay Updated: Keep up-to-date with changes in coding standards, medical terminology, and healthcare regulations.
• Support Audits: Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to coding practices.
• Customer Service: Address and respond to coding-related queries from patients, healthcare providers, or insurance companies.

Qualifications:

• Certification: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or other relevant certification required.
• Experience: [2-3] years of experience in medical coding preferred, with knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
• Skills:
• Proficiency in medical terminology and coding practices.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Technical Skills: Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and coding software.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ?35,000.00 - ?40,000.00 per month
