To be primarily responsible for leading the execution of the mechanical design and development tasks in a project and mentoring other members on the team. In this role he will be responsible for defining the scope of the work as well as mentoring a team to execute on time and with quality. He will use his design skillset, technical core competencies and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to affect short and long term goals. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Mentor mechanical engineers on a project providing technical direction along with the team to ensure on time and quality deliverables.
2. Mentor and develop junior engineers in the team.
3. Incorporate required regulatory standards in developmental and/or sustaining engineering projects including written protocols, test methods, assembly processes and the design history file.
4. Work with R&D partners to establish product specifications, scope, and budget and timeline details to meet business objectives.
5. Own and Lead the entire New product Development project by effectively working with cross-functional teams.
6. Lead design and verification in the product development life cycle - concept and feasibility, risk analysis, prototyping, design verifications and designs transfer as needed for projects.
7. Lead engineering change management projects through using the electronic change management system.
8. Establish, execute and report on product development deliverables.
9. Mentor the team in developing and maintaining CAD models/designs for all phases of the stage gate process from concept to commercial launch.
10. Develop and execute design control requirements including the creation of detailed specifications, design verification and validation plans, protocols and reports.
11. Lead design reviews with both in internal team & cross functional team to ensure the design meets the product requirements for safety, reliability and manufacturability.
12. Lead and address field failure issues, compliance issues, product failures and report to management on actions.
13. Prepares reports, presentations and spreadsheets of an analytical and interpretative nature to be presented to the team.
14. Lead and perform analytical modelling / analysis in support of meeting design requirements.
15. Identify materials and specifications for components, subassemblies and finished assemblies
16. Lead and Assess customer and procedural needs, generate product concepts, assess feasibility, and conduct product testing via models and prototypes.
17. Implement and maintain a quality improvement process targeting reduction in product variation and product losses using key management tools.
18. Design, build, test and documentation of prototypes.
19. Product risk management (DFMEA, DFA, PFMEA). QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

1. Bachelor/Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed Institution/University OR Post Graduation from IGTR, CIPET, German Tool Room engineering OR Plastic Engineering.
2. Must have practical experience in full New product development cycle.
3. At least 5+ years of experience in developing engineering design concepts for components and electromechanical assemblies that has demanding requirements for thermal dissipation, precision, reliability, manufacturability and cost.
4. Experience in Sheet Metal, Plastics Injection molding, tool trials, Mold maintenance, Mold flow analyses & related process parameter understanding.
5. Experience and knowledge in pressure die-casting process & designing Die casted components.
6. Experience designing conceptual models by using computer based design/drafting tools, performing engineering analysis for Multi-body Dynamics, fatigue & fracture mechanics, strain energy, theories of elastic failures, experimental stress thermal & optical analysis & their use in design of structural components.
7. Working knowledge of Design for Statistical Analysis methods, and Design of Experiments and Measurement techniques.
8. Good knowledge of various manufacturing process with extensive experience manufacturing of plastic components and metal components for hand held consumer electronic devices.
9. Knowledge of tooling, molding, design and process methods of plastic components.
10. Demonstrated experience in identifying the Verification and Validation requirements for a hand held consumer electronics device, experience in coordinating the work with cross functional teams to complete stability requirements, sterilization requirements, Packaging requirements, and verification and validation requirements.
11. Working knowledge of rapid prototyping, material selection, and product design and process specs.
12. Experience in writing technical documents like Test protocols/ reports, Risk Management report etc.
13. Experience in carrying out Risk Analysis activities using established Risk analysis tools like DFMEA. Thorough understanding of engineering practices, product safety and root cause analysis.
14. Demonstrated experience in preparing Design History File for end to end New product development projects.
15. Experience in handling Engineering Design Change Management process. DESIRED SKILL CHARACTERISTICS:

1. Experience in design and development of consumer electronics devices and related processes.
2. Exposure to PLM Team centre etc.
3. Strong CAD skills (Solid Edge/Creo) including 3D model design, tolerance specifications and tolerance stack up analysis for product assemblies.
4. Knowledge/exposure to thermal engineering, Optics & electro mechanical components.
5. Knowledge in electronic enclosure compliances like CE, FCC, BIS, NEMA & Military grade
6. A strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on abilities.
7. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
8. Planning, organizational mentoring skills.
9. Willing to take ownership and take accountability for team's deliverables.
10. Strong interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal), excellent team player.
11. Ability to work independently with cross-functional teams.
12. Ability to build relationships within and outside of the organization.
