The incumbent will be responsible for handling issues related to public policy for client, under the overall supervision and guidance of the Head of Public Affairs . The set of responsibilities will include managing government relations at the Central and State levels, as also across other parastatals of the state, to effectively advocate for business-friendly policies.
The position will be part of the overall Corporate Relations Office (CRO) and will directly work with the Public Affairs team, and may involve travelling to different parts of India.
Role & responsibilities :
a). Develop and execute an annual advocacy plan that reflects regulatory and business priorities in close coordination with other business functions as also the public affairs team.
- Build networks and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including key policy influencers (including officials at key government agencies and other relevant public policy stakeholders like trade associations).
b). Support the leaderships strategic level contacts with key policymakers, regulators and association partners.
c). Coordinate and participate actively in industry associations and international trade body discussions that aim to protect and advance the business while delivering policy results for the organization.
d). Monitor the legal and policy environment affecting the electronics / consumer durables industry and participate in the formulation of upcoming technology, electronics, and trade-related policies ( for eg., Foreign Trade Policies, customs tariff amendments, e-commerce, cybersecurity, and data protection ).
e). Ability to develop and execute proactive and reactive strategies and solutions to mitigate risks and manage crises.
g). Monitor the regulatory and political landscape for threats and opportunities to client\'s business and communicate the sensing to business leaders and functional colleagues ( including provision of up-to-date, clearly written analyses of such developments, showing the impact on the business, working out scenarios and recommending appropriate action).
h). Track and participate in the policy formulation of upcoming policies.
i). Anticipate major regional political trends while developing and modifying strategies to manage these trends.
j). Keep track of any regulatory changes that might have an impact, positive or negative, on the electronics manufacturing industry.
Preferred candidate profile :
1). Should have minimum 6 years of relevant experience with exposure in public policy, regulatory issues or government business.
2). Sound understanding of government, legislative and public policy matters.
3). The candidate would be expected to have a clear understanding of and experience in dealing with matters related to Customs, Foreign trade, tariff barriers and other such related aspects.
4). Self-motivated, driven, organized, able to multi-task in a regulatory environment and effectively work in challenging circumstances or crisis situations.
5). Must possess strong written and oral communication skills in English, as well as a demonstrated ability to research, analyze, and articulate complex regulatory policy issues and solutions.
6). Deep understanding of the political climate in India, with an awareness of global happenings and practices.
7). Must possess requisite IT skills to prepare reports and creating documentation
