The organization builds and evolves key products and services to enable the Colleague Experience Group (CEG) and the business. The CS organization manages the ecosystem of CEG products, processes, platforms, applications, third party partners, colleague insights and reporting, and colleague-related risk, compliance, and governance.Within Colleague Services, the Colleague Insights team is seeking a senior data scientist to lead CEG\xe2\x80\x99s AI efforts for employee-facing use cases. As a senior manager on the team, you will combine strong quantitative analysis skills with a deep understanding of business dynamics, using your expertise in ML and AI to delve into large datasets, conduct data exploration, and derive actionable insights. Your work will directly impact key business areas, guiding strategic decisions, including talent mobility, employee retention, recruitment, and Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion initiatives.Beyond your proficiency in data science, you will display a constant drive for learning and outstanding communication skills. This role is not just about analyzing data but about translating insights into action, encouraging a culture of engagement and inclusivity, and contributing to the continuous growth and success of American Express.Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, maintain, and optimize Machine Learning and AI models including Gen AI models using OpenAI, Azure, Google Cloud, or similar platforms.
• Apply advanced NLP techniques for understanding and generating human-like responses.
• Work closely with Technology partners and team members to ensure seamless integration with established technology platforms, user interfaces, and path-to-production.
• Manage team member relationships and work as part of a cross-functional team to assess needs and translate them into strategic plans and data-driven solutions.
• Gather, sanitize, and preprocess extensive datasets from various sources, and perform exploratory data analysis.
• Construct and apply statistical models for data analysis, correlation identification, predictive modeling, and accurate forecasting.
• Employ machine learning algorithms to construct models for various data-driven applications.
• Identify pertinent features and refine raw data to enhance model performance and predictive accuracy.
• Use data visualization tools and techniques to clearly communicate complex findings, employing effective storytelling methods.
• Cooperate with cross-functional teams to comprehend business challenges and generate data-driven solutions.
• Adhere to data governance guidelines, uphold data privacy and security standards, and align with applicable regulations.
• Stay current with data science advancements, attend industry conferences, participate in training, and continually hone analytical skills.

Required Qualifications:

• Master\'s degree in data science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in building and deploying machine learning models, with a strong focus on natural language processing and chatbot technologies.
• Proficiency in Python with ML and deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Experience with API development and integration.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for deploying and scaling applications.
• Solid understanding of database management and proficiency in SQL or NoSQL databases.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills; including the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Adaptability to learn and apply new technologies and methodologies.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with transformer models like GPT or BERT and fine-tuning them for specific tasks.
• Familiarity with Machine Learning Operations tools and practices.
• Previous experience in developing chatbots or conversational AI systems.
• Knowledge of software development standard processes, including version control, testing, and containerization.
• Awareness of ethical AI practices, including data privacy and bias mitigation.
