About the teamOur South Asia team works with Government, Private sector and international aid agencies and other financing organisations (DFID, the EU, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank etc.) as implementing partner in technical cooperation and assistance bringing expertise that matters to achieve Sustainable Development Goals in the area of urban development, disaster and climate resilience, energy and clean energy transition.About the roleAs Manager, Urban Development, you will be responsible for advancing the urban sector consulting portfolio by serving local and national governments, bilateral and multilateral agencies to implement city and regional development initiatives. You will have active involvement in business development activities as well as leadership in project management and delivery.You will need to demonstrate a robust understanding of the urban domain and its various themes such as local economic development, environmental mitigation, urban planning, water, sanitation, urban mobility, land and housing, culture and tourism, digitally backed city management, urban policy, governance and reforms, urban finance and resource mobilization, etc. You will need to have demonstrable experience in working with climate resilience, environment, sustainability, social and gender inclusion.Prior experience in consulting roles in the urban domain is a must, with experience of work with development agencies and donor partners being highly preferred. You need to exhibit a track record of winning mandates or supporting winning pursuits. You also need to demonstrate project delivery experience in leadership positions. With strong communication and relationships management capabilities, you need to exhibit experience in stakeholder management and community engagement activities. An in depth understanding of the urban domain in India as well as other developing economies in the region are required, with a knowledge of the various schemes, programmes and funding pipelines.You will also need to help advance the company brand by participating in franchise building activities through written articles, seminars, workshops, etc. Collaboration and coordination need to be your key strengths and you need to be willing to work with people, team members, and stakeholders to deliver solutions and bring about change. In summary, you need to demonstrate sectoral leadership qualities and be keen to advance the cause of sustainable and equitable urban development through your work.\xe2\x80\x8bRequired experience:

  • 6+ years of post-education work experience in urban sector.
  • Demonstrated track record in business development and delivery of projects funded by bilateral and multilateral organisations (FCDO, USAID, EC, ADB, GIZ, WB).
  • Significant field experience working on urban development projects in India with cities, state governments and central governments.
  • Experience of coordinating a multi-sectoral team, responsible for delivering results.
  • Experience of successfully delivering urban/regional/built environment projects.
  • Experience in capacity building and training in technical areas.
Qualifications:
  • Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Urban Planning, Development, Management, or related field
