• As a DB2 DBA specialist, responsible to provide technical support by meeting Service Level Agreements (SLA) and process compliance.
• Database Installation and Configuration: Installing and configuring Db2 LUW database software on servers.
• Backup and Recovery: Define Policy & Procedure for Backup & Recovery. Implementing and testing backup and recovery procedures to safeguard data integrity.
• Setup Good Practices & Procedures for Performance Monitoring, Capacity Planning including Housekeeping & Archival, Security, Database Design, Patch & Version Management
• Performance Tuning: Monitoring and optimizing database performance to ensure efficient operation. Knowledge of SQL to fine tune Log running Queries.
• Security Management: Managing user access and ensuring database security through proper authentication and authorization processes.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving database-related issues, including errors, performance bottlenecks, and connectivity problems.
• Database Design: Collaborating with developers to design and implement database structures that meet application requirements.
• Patch and Version Management: Applying patches and updates to keep the database system current and secure.
• Capacity Planning: Estimating future database growth and planning for additional capacity as needed.Raising the hardware requirement as per systems need.
• Documentation: Maintaining comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Collaboration: Working with other IT professionals, such as system administrators and application developers, to ensure smooth integration and optimal performance.
• Automation: Implementing automation scripts and tools for routine tasks to enhance efficiency.
• Monitoring: Setting up and maintaining database monitoring tools to proactively identify issues and trends.
• Training: Providing training and support to team/colleagues on database-related matters.
• Compliance: Ensuring that the database environment complies with relevant regulations and standards
• Perform business impact analysis and risk assessments to reduce the likelihood of significant service outage or disasters.
• DB2 server administration with installation, configuration, working knowledge, and have outstanding work experience in fixing Database issues.
• Basic tasks include Installation and configuration of Databases, Back up, Restoring databases, setting up High Availability, Disaster recovery, performance tuning, RAC HADR administration, regular Housekeeping etc.
• Create collaborative environments that use agile methodologies to encourage creative design thinking and find innovative ways to develop with cutting edge technologies
• Ambitious individual who can work under their own direction towards agreed targets/goals and with creative approach to work. Must be willing to work in shifts.
• Ensure Housekeeping/ Archival process of all Databases on time to time as per SOP. Monitoring the production/DR resources & proactively act towards timely resolution


Desired Expertise:


• Certification in Database Administration and especially on DB2 Admin & Maintenance Tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient in troubleshooting DB2 system log and bring up the problem if it cannot be fixed
• Experience in Database performance tuning by configuring database and DB Parameters
• Experience in Configuring the HADR and monitoring the HADR databases. Purescale implementation desired
• Ability to rebind the Plans/Packages, Granting required accesses to Packages/Plans/Collections
• Experience in Database Monitoring- DB2 tool to check current trace/status of any object
• Experience in database performance tuning and optimization
• Good knowledge of Linux
• Scheduling shell scripts on LINUX environments
• Good experience in generating DDL using DB2LOOK command on existing database and its objects. Extensively used Tools such as db2advisor and db2explain.
• Additional knowledge or experience in products like MySQL, SQL Server, Neteeza is an advantage.
• Experience in Database Administration including various commands such as RUNSTATS, REORGCHK and REORG to enhance application performance.
• Experience on data movement utilities like IMPORT, LOAD, and EXPORT under high volume

conditions.

• Develop and maintain database backup and recovery strategies
• Develop and maintain database documentation and standards
• Collaborate with application developers to ensure optimal database design and performance
