Godrej Agrovet has 50 manufacturing facilities across India with a network of 10,000 rural distributors/dealers and over 2500 employees.Your Roles & Responsibilities :Role Summary -The Product Quality and Food Safety manager plays a key role within the Oil Palm Division of Godrej Agrovet. The incumbent will be primarily responsible for driving the quality and food safety agenda for the downstream processing and refining operations. The successful candidate must possess a deep understanding of relevant certifications required to operate edible oil factories in India and will play a pivotal role in maintaining the company's compliance with national and international quality and safety standards.Job Specification:Quality Management:

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve quality management systems for Palm oil production and refining processes.
  • Set quality objectives and ensure they align with the overall business goals and customer expectations for the finished products.
  • Monitor key quality indicators, analyze trends, and take proactive measures to address any non-conformances or quality deviations.
Food Safety Compliance:
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest food safety regulations, standards, and best practices issued by relevant authorities, such as FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India).
  • Ensure strict adherence to food safety protocols during downstream processing and refining, minimizing potential food safety risks.
Certification and Compliance:
  • Lead the process of obtaining and maintaining relevant certifications required to operate edible oil factories in India, such as FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, and other applicable certifications.
  • Work closely with certification bodies and external auditors to conduct audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Legal Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with AGMARK (The Agricultural Marketing Department), BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards), EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment), and other legal requirements related to food safety in the food processing industry.
Process Optimization:
  • Collaborate closely with the plant head and supply chain lead to identify gaps in processes and operations that impact product quality and food safety.
  • Proactively work with relevant stakeholders to close these gaps and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, product quality enhancement, and waste reduction.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall operational efficiency and product quality.
Supplier Feedback:
  • Provide feedback to the procurement team regarding the quality of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) received, collaborating on measures to improve raw material quality.
Training and Development:
  • Provide training and guidance to employees at all levels to foster a culture of hygiene, quality consciousness, and food safety awareness within processing operations.
  • Develop training modules on quality and food safety practices and conduct regular workshops for relevant stakeholders.
Incident Management:
  • Establish an effective incident management system to handle product quality or food safety-related incidents promptly and efficiently.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
Regulatory Liaison:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies regarding quality and food safety matters in downstream operations.
  • Collaborate with authorities during inspections and audits, ensuring full compliance with legal requirements.
Position RequirementsQualification:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a similar role within the edible oil processing industry, with a focus on quality assurance and food safety management.
Critical Skills:
  • Experience in working with certification bodies and successfully obtaining and maintaining relevant certifications (e.g., FSSC 22000, ISO 22000).
  • Strong understanding of the oil palm downstream processing and refining industry, with an emphasis on quality control and product development.
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
