Boeing Research & Technology-India (BR&T-I) \xe2\x80\x93 Materials and Manufacturing Technology Integration (MMTI) team is looking for a Manager, Materials & Manufacturing Research to lead diverse teams of Chemical Technologies Researchers and Advanced Material Characterization Engineers to support the goals and objectives of the various Boeing commercial and defense programs related to materials and manufacturing research and implementations.

Position Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of lab-based researchers in Chemical Technologies R&D who develop novel materials and manufacturing processes. The work focus will be on Surface Treatments research in areas such as Environment preferred coatings, primers, top coats and sealants.
• Lead a team of Advanced Material Characterization Engineers who perform advanced characterization for recovery of material and process information from supplier parts through various materials testing and characterization methods.
• Managing, maintaining and upgrading a state-of-the-art material characterization and analytical chemistry laboratory to support Boeing Global Sales, local Boeing and regional Boeing needs and to support Research and Technology Project.
• Work collaboratively with the broader Materials and Manufacturing team to implement its global strategy, increase India Lab footprint and complexity in statement of work
• Identify new research statement of work linked to Boeing Strategic Capability Need (SCN)
• Partner with Manufacturing Technology Integration team to identify aircraft failure investigation and new statement of work for Advanced Characterization Team
• Define and driving a collaborative strategy with research institutions and universities in line with the technical roadmaps. Pursuing a comprehensive plan to leverage local universities, research laboratories and government labs to enhance research output

• Leading, managing, developing and motivating employees in performing activities within the aforementioned areas
• Creating and implementing employee engagement plans with the team, acting on feedback and communicating progress, as well as focusing on professional development of all team members. Developing employees and supporting the pursuit of learning and innovation
• Implementing policies and procedures and setting operational goals
• Establishing work statement and priorities, coordinating with peers in US and India on materials and processes related issues and activities while keeping management informed
• Acquiring resources for projects and processes. Ensuring that resources are efficiently invested in line with technology roadmap
• Participating in establishing and administering multiple projects. Championing the development of, approve and execute the detailed project plans, providing sustained technical guidance to the project teams, implementing proper project management methodologies, driving and monitoring execution, assessing the risks (technical, schedule and cost). Drive for productivity improvements
• Monitoring the budget on a regular rhythm for multiple areas to ensure performance to plan
• Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, academic institutions, government labs and direct reports
• Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
• Being personally accountable for the team\xe2\x80\x99s safety

Basic Qualifications:

• Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Engineering or Science in the field of Chemistry, Material Science, Metallurgy or similar specialization is a basic qualification.
• PhD preferred but not a requirement
• 12+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in Aerospace, automotive or related engineering and research functions in application areas such as Coatings, Sealants, material testing and development
• Minimum 2 years of experience in managing an Engineering or research team
• Experience in research and development of new products or process improvements with challenging affordability targets

Typical Education & Experience:

• Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Engineering or Science in the field of Chemistry, Material Science, Metallurgy or similar specialization is a basic qualification.
• PhD preferred but not a requirement
