Context/Scope:
Global Business Operations (GBO) in Diageo support standard processes and systems with effective and efficient shared services across the world. Finance Experience (FE) Tower is part of GBO and provides oversight on financial activities and controls including general accounting, management and external reporting and financial planning and analysis.
Financial reporting team is part of FE tower. Its main responsibility is to support the preparation, review and publish the legal entity wise BFC financial packs for various entities within the respective regions in accordance with the group reporting timelines.
The team is involved in various ongoing projects to drive efficiency, standardization, simplification, and automation within the service delivery team.

Purpose of Role:
Functional Owner of the critical Legal entities and is the lead point of contact for in-market Finance teams and FC teams on all issues for the legal entities.
The role directly develops a team of Entity Owners and will be responsible for the Africa region.
Trail Balance reviews, checks and balances, providing commentaries for variances including journal entry posting, month end close, GLAT management. The role is expected to bring technical expertise and sound functional knowledge of reporting and give to the success of the team.
The team will be responsible to produce and submit BFC reporting and disclosures as per IFRS and global group reporting instructions for various Diageo Demand & Supply entities. The role is responsible for being a proactive member of the FC team influencing business decisions and attending key meetings.
The overarching aim is to provide accurate reporting by the team and the narrative behind figures. Key to success is continuing to build on our partnerships within Finance and with multiple collaborators.
Top 3-5 Accountabilities:• Act as a Functional Owner and is accountable for Trial Balance reviews and accurate month end reporting in compliance with group reporting policies and procedures.
• Ensuring the completeness and fair representation of the legal entity financial documents (including sign-off of monthly BFC submission, statutory statements) and the underlying processes that supports the generation of the legal entity financial documents.
• Maintaining a robust financial control environment, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and internal control requirements
• Interact with FC team and agree upon the various accounting plan related to various month end close adjustments related to stocks, cash, inter-company transactions, etc.
• Build strong relationships with collaborators across FC, RFCs, Business Finance teams and other risk and control functions outside of Finance.
• Lead a team of entity owners (5 - 7)
• Continuously improving the quality and efficiency of financial accounting activity, ensuring that fit-for-purpose standard operating procedures are in place and evolve as business needs change.
Problem solving: Agrees a clear course of action in non-routine issues without support. Involves all related parties to resolve cross-functional issues.• Effective issue resolution and appropriate customer concern process in place and working.
• Act as a deputy to Financial reporting - AVP and support Europe Demand & Supply entities.
• Participate in the relevant Group Finance calls to ensure smooth execution of the process.
• Support internal / external audit.
• Work with key collaborators in Finance team, business and regulatory affairs and support projects and relevant updates to the database as a result of regulatory initiatives/ changes.
• Ensure smooth month end close as per global group reporting guidelines.
• Ensure compliance and adherence with all the relevant CARM controls applicable to the financial reporting team.
• Drive continuous improvement and automation agenda to improve service efficiency and maximise customer satisfaction.
• Measure KPI's and Data Quality.
• Ensure high engagement - Train, coach, motivate and develop skills of the team
Qualifications and Experience Required:• Degree in Finance. Professionally qualified like CA/ CMA/CPA
• 7-10 years of experience in accounting & reporting area
• Experience working within an international / multicultural environment.
• Excellent collaborator management skills: collaborative working style, non-hierarchical and ability to work cross-functionally.
• Develop strong understanding of business needs and context.
• A good understanding of the Reporting Framework and Product, Risk and regulatory drivers of the businesses is preferred.
• Advanced skills in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc)
• Working knowledge in a proprietary tool such as SAP, BFC, Power BI is preferred.
• Superior analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and set own agenda.
