As an engineering manager, you will be responsible for leading a specialized team of engineers for delivering and supporting the team's business outcomes. You will work closely with product owners and stakeholders to turn business requirements into functioning software systems. You will work with department leadership to formalize the processes that guide how your team operates.



Primary Responsibilities:


• Engineering managers are experienced individual contributors and established people managers. You will be key in bridging the communication and requirements gap between individual contributors and product owners

• Actively seeks to work with product management and business stakeholders to define long-term roadmaps. Influences engineering roadmaps with product counterparts while reducing significant technical debt
• Develops plans and manages best practices through engagement of team and delivery of expected outcomes
• Ensures code is up to standards across teams. Sometimes contributes to and frequently reviews code in important, core and complex components and frameworks
• Demonstrates solid ability and influences others to choose proper off-the-shelf software frameworks and libraries when needed
• Pragmatically applies testing philosophy across the team, influencing improvements to department-wide testing strategy
• Consistently incorporates customer input. Encourages positive customer experience within the team. Promotes proactive and trusted interactions and responsiveness with customers
• Driving product or engineering opportunities to improve key business metrics such as net retention, revenue, margin, etc.
• Fosters a security first mindset across the team(s). Builds and designs secure end to end systems. Can recognize obscure security threats that go unnoticed to others
• Demonstrates personal integrity and high ethical standards in all interactions. Treats others with respect and positively impacts the success of their team
• Creates an inclusive environment in which people are open to and generate new ideas, understand and respond well to change, and eager to develop new skills and capabilities
• Identifies and addresses sensitive issues and inappropriate behavior or performance of self and others. Positive outlook and adaptable

Required Qualifications:


• Bachelor's of Computer Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience, professional certification preferred
• 3+ years of experience in people management, at least 6+ years experience in software development
• Experience in highly scalable, distributed, and cloud-native architecture for data pipelines
• Experience in domain-driven design and data-pipeline implementation with a focus on application lifecycle management
• Experience in developing highly reliable software, including telemetry, monitoring, and alerting capabilities
• Solid programming experience in Python, Spark, Relational databases, and data lakes
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and technologies
• Working knowledge on testing frameworks and approaches, including unit, integration, and performance testing.
• Proven excellent verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with product management and stakeholders
• Ability to maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
