Manager, Application Reliability Engineer - Corporate Technology

Role Profile

In this role, you\'ll be joining our Corporate Technology within Application Reliability Engineering (ARE), Corporate Technology (CT) as a Manager, Application Reliability Engineer. This team serves as a bridge between Corporate Technology and LSEG central engineering, operations, and compliance teams with the key focus of enabling our CT DevOps teams to bring new software or new features to production as quickly as possible.

ARE do this by:

Ensuring all central requirements and changes are supported via aligned ARE squads. Using our ARE squads, the team will either directly implement the technical change required or lead CT coordinated efforts where there are multiple capability dependencies.

Ensuring correct tooling standards are being followed as well as automation of operational tasks.

Supporting CT Compliance, Security Controls and Risk Management.

Ensuring an acceptable level of IT operations performance and error risk in line with service level agreements (SLAs)

Continuously review operating metrics and data to identify opportunities to improve.

Tech Profile/Essential Skills

AWS, AWS Aurora, AWS Security, Cloud Formation Template

DevOps \xe2\x80\x93 Terraform, CI/CD Pipeline / API, Jenkins

GITLAB, Migration of Repository, Maintenance of Pipeline.

Bamboo, Nexus/Jfrog-Artefacts

Migration from On Prem to cloud, Integrating testing tools with CI/CD Pipeline

System Engineer \xe2\x80\x93 Red hat/windows

Preferred Skills and Experience

Hands-On experience of working 15 years on Windows/ Linux Servers. Cloud services (AWS/Azure/GCP).

Managing incidents, change requests, service requests and driving TRT (Technical Recovery Team) calls.

Strong troubleshooting skills on these platforms

Minimum knowledge and understanding of financial markets are desirable.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Ability to communicate effectively in English with all levels of staff, both orally and written.

Ability to manage own work and multitask to meet tight deadlines without losing sight of priorities under minimum supervision.

Highly motivated, self-directed individual with a positive & pro-active attitude to work.

Customer and service focused, with determination to meet their needs and expectations.

Be driven and committed to the goals and objectives of the team and organization.

15 Years of experience as Technical

07 Years of experience as DevOps

05 Years of experience on AWS cloud.

Ability to provide Production support: 08-17 GMT (available on call for escalation)

Second line point of escalation in event of a major incident

Education and Professional Skills

Professional qualification or equivalent.

BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or STEM degree (Desirable)

Solid English reading/writing capability required.

Strong communication & articulation skills.

Curious about new technologies and tools, creative thinking and initiative taking.

Relevant DevOps certifications will be beneficial.

Agile related certifications preferable

Strong people management capability

Deep technical understanding of development and systems / platform engineering

Customer centricity

Strategic ability to define technical direction in the portfolio of products including technical strategies and plans and execution plans.

Detailed Responsibilities

Must interact with global teams in time zones spanning UK, US, APAC areas.

Work closely with senior and junior engineers in Cloud & ARE Team and coordinate the efforts with lead and manager of the team.

Must interact with global teams in time zones spanning UK, US, APAC areas.

Design, build, and maintain the AWS infrastructure and services using industry best practices and automation tools.

Implement and manage AWS services such as EC2 ECS, EKS, Lambda, S3 RDS, and VPC, ensuring scalability, high availability, and security.

Deploy, configure, and manage Kubernetes clusters (EKS) to host containerized applications, enabling seamless scaling and efficient resource utilization.

Build and maintain Docker containers and container images, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance across different environments.

Develop and implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform to provision and manage AWS resources.

Collaborate with development teams to define and implement CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Git, and other relevant tools.

Monitor and optimise the performance, availability, and cost-efficiency of AWS infrastructure and applications.

Implement and maintain robust security practices, including identity and access management, encryption, and compliance.

Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and application-related issues in AWS environments, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.

Stay up to date with the latest AWS services, DevOps tools, and industry best practices, and share knowledge with the team.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide technical guidance and support for infrastructure-related decisions and projects.

Familiarity with relational databases. (SQL Server, PostgreSQL)

Proficient in SDLC, Waterfall, and Agile methodologies.

Build a CI/CD pipeline and maintain the pipeline for Software Delivery.

Collaborate with Security and Infrastructure teams to ensure the patching are up to date.

Co-ordinate and work with DevOps Capability team to perform the Disaster recovery for the applications.
