Detailed Responsibilities:The primary responsibility of the Manager - Agriculture involves proactively identifying business development opportunities in sustainable agriculture and related areas by staying updated on industry trends. This includes taking the lead in proposal and concept note development, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Collaborating with senior management, the position contributes critical insights and supports strategic decision-making. The role also entails conducting thorough sectoral/thematic research, independently producing knowledge documents, and occasionally undertaking field visits for first-hand insights. Additionally, the position involves leading tasks/work streams within assignments, focusing on analytical reports and presentations. Continuous learning and expertise building in agriculture and food systems, through training and participation in relevant forums, are emphasized.Business Development:
  • Establish and nurture relationships with current and prospective clients.
  • Proactively take steps to enhance client relationships.
  • Create and present proposals to generate business, with a focus on the relevant Practice Group.
  • Represent the organization at conferences and similar events.
  • Contribute as an author or co-author to thematic publications derived from field experiences, such as Focus notes and Briefing notes.
  • Actively participate in marketing activities and engage in digital media dialogues, including blogs and discussion forums.
Human Capital Development:
  • Perform "Quality of Delivery" and Feedback assessments with team members post-assignment in adherence to quality control guidelines.
  • Aid in the development of fellow staff members by offering guidance and advice as needed.
  • Share knowledge with the team and foster mentoring opportunities.
  • Assume responsibility for personal development by acquiring skills and knowledge that contribute value to the organization.
Business Execution:
  • Take a leading or supporting role in planning and implementing medium/large technical assistance assignments.
  • Conduct setup and de-briefing meetings for assigned assignments.
  • Establish rapport with different contacts within the client organization to ensure the successful execution of assignments.
  • Execute assignments with careful planning and attention to detail.
  • Supervise and assist in the process of report writing and data analysis.
  • Review training courses, research papers, curriculum, and technical assistance provided to clients.
  • Contribute to the development of the organization\'s tool kits and other publications.
