Job Title: Male Hostel Warden

Location: Emerald International School, Nelamangala, Bangalore.

Position type: Full Time, Residential

Job Summary: The Hostel Warden plays a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being and smooth functioning of the residential school hostel. You will be responsible for creating a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for students residing in the hostel, while also overseeing the administrative aspects of hostel life. This position requires a blend of leadership, organizational skills, and a genuine care for the emotional and academic development of young students.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Ensure the physical and emotional well-being of students residing in the hostel.
• Address student concerns and grievances promptly and effectively.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the hostel, including housekeeping, maintenance, and security.
• Oversee the quality and hygiene of food preparation in the hostel mess. Manage and develop menus that are nutritious and cater to student dietary needs.
• Manage the smooth running of the hostel laundry service. Ensure timely and efficient cleaning of student uniforms and beddings. Maintain an inventory of laundry supplies and equipment.
• Coordinate with the school nurse to ensure the availability of basic medical care for students. Monitor student health and well-being, reporting any concerning issues to the nurse or parents.
• Facilitate communication between students and parents/guardians. Address any student concerns or homesickness issues arising during calls.
• Oversee the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the hostel premises. Coordinate with housekeeping staff to ensure regular cleaning and maintenance.
• Conduct regular inspections and address any sanitation or maintenance concerns promptly. Ensure the proper functioning of utilities like electricity, water, and security systems.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children in a residential setting (e.g., boarding school, hostel warden).
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Ability to handle disciplinary issues in a firm, fair, and empathetic manner.
• Working knowledge of child development and adolescent psychology.
• Compassionate and understanding demeanor suitable for working with young people.
• Proficiency in English, Kannada (must) and Hindi language.
• First-aid and CPR certification preferred.
