• System Installation: Youll be responsible for installing and configuring the z/OS operating system on mainframe hardware.
• Customization: Tailoring system parameters, subsystems, and components to meet specific organizational requirements.
• Maintenance and Upgrades:

• Maintenance Patches: Applying maintenance fixes, service packs, and updates to keep the system secure and stable.
• Version Upgrades: Planning and executing version upgrades of z/OS.
• Performance Optimization:

• Tuning: Monitoring system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and fine-tuning system parameters.
• Capacity Planning: Estimating resource needs and ensuring optimal utilization.
• Security and Compliance:

• Security Hardening: Implementing security best practices, configuring access controls, and managing user privileges.
• Compliance: Ensuring adherence to security policies and regulatory requirements.
• Subsystem Management:

• JES2 (Job Entry Subsystem): Managing job scheduling, spooling, and print services.
• CICS (Customer Information Control System): Supporting transaction processing and online applications.
• Problem Resolution:

• Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving system-related issues, including abends and performance anomalies.
• Incident Management: Collaborating with application teams to address production problems.
• Automation and Scripting:

• Rexx and JCL: Writing automation scripts and job control language (JCL) for routine tasks.
• Automated Operations: Implementing automated processes for system monitoring and maintenance.
• 24/7 Support:

• On-Call Rotation: Being available for system support and incident response.
• Emergency Handling: Resolving critical issues promptly.
