NThe Legal Support Person plays a crucial role in providing assistance, guidance, and emotional support to the survivor throughout the legal process. The primary objective is to ensure that the survivor's rights are protected, their needs are addressed, and they can navigate the legal system effectively. Detailed Job Responsibilities and expectations are as given below:
Victim Orientation :
o A Legal Support Person will inform and orient the victim about her/his legal rights and help/guide the victim to initiate legal proceedings against the abuse/violence suffered.
Emotional Support:
o Provide a safe and empathetic environment for the survivor to share their experiences and feelings. Offer emotional support throughout the legal proceedings, recognizing the trauma associated with the crime.
Information and Education :
o Explain the legal process, the survivor's rights, and available options in a clear and comprehensible manner. Help the survivor understand legal terminology and procedures.
Accompaniment :
o Accompany the survivor to police and other law enforcement interviews, medical examinations, court hearings, and any other relevant appointments.
Case Management:
o Assist the survivor in coordinating with law enforcement, prosecutors, medical professionals, and other relevant parties.
o Help gather and organize necessary documents and information related to the case.
Safety Planning:
o Collaborate with the survivor to create a safety plan that addresses any potential threats or concerns related to their well-being during and after the legal process.
Communication :
o Act as a liaison between the survivor and legal professionals, ensuring that the survivor's preferences and concerns are effectively communicated to all parties involved.
Privacy and Confidentiality:
o Respect the survivor's confidentiality and privacy throughout the process, adhering to ethical guidelines and legal requirements.
Empowerment :
o Empower the survivor to make informed decisions about their case. Offer support without making decisions for them, allowing them to have agency over their own legal journey.
Cultural Sensitivity :
o Recognize and respect the survivor's cultural background, values, and beliefs, ensuring that their unique needs and sensitivities are considered.
Documentation :
o Keep accurate records of interactions, appointments, and progress in the legal case. This documentation can be helpful for both the survivor and any relevant legal professionals.
o Support the Public Prosecutors office in research and related areas.
o Liaise with Court Duty Constables and other connected stakeholders, including DLSA for fast tracking victim support.
o Escalate issues early to Bharosa Centre Project Management Team.
Advocacy:
o Serve as an advocate for the survivor's rights and needs within the legal system.
o Ensure that the survivor's voice is heard and their interests are represented throughout the legal proceedings

Qualification:
LLB (Bachelor of Legislative Law or Legum Baccalaureus).
LLM (Master in Laws).
Age:
Should be not less than 21 years not more than 45 years of age as on date of application
Gender:
Female (only)
Experience:
Should have not less than 24 months of post qualification relevant experience.
Independently or along with senior counsel handled not less than 10 cases related to women and children.
DV / Rape / Other Family Court cases /POCSO
Experience should include:
Experience of supporting PP/DLSA
Experience of briefing clients and witnesses (at least in 10 number of cases)
Experience in conducting Mock Trials

Days of Work
Centre will be operational 6 days a week, Monday to Saturday. The position is required to be available on a need basis on off days and public holidays based on client needs.
Compensation
The remuneration is INR 22,000/- per month in Tier-II with an annual performance-based increase of up to 7% as per currently approved guidelines.
Initial Tenure
The initial outsourcing contract will be for a period of 1 year. The position has an initial probation of 6 months. Annual performance appraisals and continuance of budgetary sanctions will determine continuity of service, year on year.
