Legal Counsel, Asia Pacific

We are looking for Legal Counsel, Asia Pacific to be our business partnership in succeeding business goals.
In this position you will report to the Director, Legal, Asia Pacific. This position will be based in Chennai, India. And the position requires travelling frequently.

As a Legal Counsel, Asia Pacific, you will, among others, be accountable for• Counsel, review, draft and negotiate contracts for the sale of equipment and related services for all Business Lines, with customers in Asia Pacific Area.
• Counsel, review, draft and negotiate contracts for procurement with suppliers in Asia Pacific Area.
• Counsel, review, draft and negotiate contracts ancillary to the above or otherwise related to the business, such as nondisclosure agreements, letters of intent, distributor and agency agreements.
• Support business acquisition and divestiture activities in Asia Pacific Area (LOI, NDA, due diligence, etc.) and coordination of other legal services.
• Assist and manage dispute resolutions related to customer projects, supplier disputes, third party claims, collections, etc.
• Manage ongoing litigation matters and coordinate with and manage external counsel on such matters.
• Maintain corporate record books of legal entities in Asia Pacific Area, review and draft other corporate governance related documents such as minutes, consents and resolutions of the Board of Directors.
• Provide legal counsel and advice, draft and negotiate contracts related to office lease, plant/workshop building development in Asia Pacific Area.
• Manage Asia Pacific contracts database and filing of the signed contracts, including records of the signed contracts and reminders of expiration of contract term.
• Ensure compliance of laws and regulations for all operations in the organization.
• Oversee company's approval grid and policies.
• Update legal Asia Pacific internal website page.
• Other duties and legal matters as may be assigned.
To succeed in this important role, you will need:• Bachelor of Law (LLB) or Master of Law (LLM) degree from an accredited university.
• Minimum five (5) years of law practice experience drafting, reviewing and advising on a variety of general commercial contracts with an international law firm and/or multi-national company. Legal practice experience in EPC/EPS multinational companies will be a value-added expertise for this position.
• Individual will be exposed to a variety of demands and must be able to prioritize and manage workload and time appropriately.
• Excellent client management and business literacy skills.
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to develop strong trusting relationships to gain support and achieve results.
• Work in environment with international objectives.
• Ability to understand issues domestically and internationally and communicate effectively with clients.
• Take initiative to identify and anticipate customer needs and make recommendations for implementation.
• Must be legally authorized to work in India. Please note that any offer of employment is contingent upon a background check and drug screen.
• Willing to travel (both domestic and overseas) to fulfil job requirements.
