OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a Legal Counsel to be part of a dynamic team based in Bangalore. This is an independent contributor role reporting to the Head of Legal & Compliance at Maersk Global Service Centres ("Maersk GSC"). In this role, you will act as a dependable legal business partner in securing a structured, efficient and proactive legal support various cross-functional internal stakeholders in India and other countries where Maersk GSC is operating. A high degree of independence, proactiveness and bias for action is expected, as well as the ability to take a pragmatic approach towards problem solving and risk management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Legal Counsel you will have diverse set of responsibilities including but not limited to:


• Providing effective legal support to the business and procurement teams in general commercial contract structuring, preparation, review, and negotiation; developing and maintaining contract templates and database management.
• Providing guidance and legal advisory services to People Function on employment law, policies and employee relations matters for India and other countries as assigned, working with outside counsel.
• Ensuring that legal entities in-scope are compliant with applicable laws and regulations including regulatory filings, evaluating the impact of evolving legal and statutory landscape in all geographies of operation, etc.
• Regulatory compliance tool management and review of compliances in a pragmatic and risk-based manner.
• Assistance in managing any potential disputes and litigation.
• Providing time-sensitive support on a wide array of legal inquiries concerning all aspects of operations.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Minimum 3-6 years of relevant experience; Exposure to IT/ITES sector is a plus but not mandatory.
• Law degree
• Competence to review and identify common legal issues in contracts; Excellent research & analytical skills.
• Ability to function autonomously yet communicate laterally and upward with ease.
• High motivation, creative problem solving, and laser focused on details.
• Drive to deliver high quality results effectively and efficiently; possess high level of integrity.
• Flexible to adapt to changing priorities, fast paced and fluid environments.
• Humble, a team player and have excellent skills in communication and cross-cultural collaboration in pursuit of desired results.
• A distinct can-do attitude and a "go-getter" mentality.
• Passionate about the job; Well organized and punctual.

The colleague understands the overall nature of the business and the interdependencies between own and other functions. And fully understands the systemic nature of the role, where this person needs to correlate business reality with solution uptake status, understand or investigate factors of success or impediments in adoption of solution, provide advice on how to approach the business, resulting into increasing adoption of the solution This role requires an above average appetite for data and data savviness, with a demonstrated ability to interpret data quickly. In addition, a demonstrated ability to work with stakeholders at all levels and in particular with senior stakeholders, be able to communicate with impact and influence without authority.
