We treasure every talent, and recognize merit and diversity in our organization.DescriptionThe Legal Counsel is responsible for advising Dr. Reddy\xe2\x80\x99s Laboratories Limited (\xe2\x80\x9cDr Reddy\xe2\x80\x99s\xe2\x80\x9d) in its pursuit of the finished formulation business in India. The role requires legal expertise, business acumen and experience to advise the Company on its business contracts and agreements, strategic projects, marketing and distribution activities and harnessing inorganic growth opportunities, keeping in mind the best commercial interests of the organisation, applicable laws and Dr Reddy\xe2\x80\x99s legal and compliance policies. Further, the role calls for strong, practical skillsets to work on large-scale business development and M&A deals, including hands-on experience in independently drafting, negotiating & concluding transaction documents for assets/business acquisition and in integration of such acquired assets/businesses.The role offers an opportunity to work as part of the legal team of a leading global generics company in its home-territory of India and to support and assist the business as they bring to market, a wide range of pharmaceutical and nutraceutical products. The role requires the Legal Counsel to advise on laws relating to the drug control laws, FSSAI regulations, legal metrology rules, consumer interest legislations and the like.The role would be attractive to legal professionals who enjoy working on a wide variety of assignments that contribute to the strategic goal of the Business Unit while furthering the Company\xe2\x80\x99s motto of \xe2\x80\x9cGood Health Can\xe2\x80\x99t Wait\xe2\x80\x9d and increased access to affordable medicines for all. • Drafting, negotiating and assisting with execution of contracts and related legal documents including service contracts, distributor contracts, MoU, term sheets etc;
• Negotiating contracts and supporting with the launch and distribution of in-licensed products
• Working closely with the Business Development function for comprehensive legal support in successfully completing M & A, brand/product acquisition, business/asset purchase deals
• Advising on marketing and promotional activities, while being compliant with applicable laws and the Company\xe2\x80\x99s marketing code;
• Providing legal support to the commercial team in implementing strategic goals and resolution of legal queries in day-to-day operations;
• Interacting with key stakeholders, including: Finance, Tax, SCM, Regulatory as well as colleagues in global Legal & Compliance department.
• Research and interpretation of applicable laws and ideating on creative and legally compliant solutions to business problems;

Key Competencies

• Sound grasp of legal concepts and ability to draft and manage legal contracts, for varied business requirements/situations;
• Good negotiation skills to drive discussions to desired outcomes;
• Strong exposure to digital environment and understanding of IP, data privacy and information security issues;
• Self-motivated and performance driven individual who sets high standards for oneself at work;
• Adaptable, open to new ways of working and finding unique solutions to overcome business challenges
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Willingly assists colleagues in other functions and activities in areas outside of his/her primary areas of responsibility as needed to contribute to a collegial atmosphere.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications

• A Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Law Degree from a reputed national university in India
• 12-14 years\xe2\x80\x99 work experience in corporate law firms and/or reputed corporates with strong practical experience in M & A, Acquisitions and Divestments, PE deals, Business Development projects. Exposure to in-licensing/out-licensing/distribution arrangements etc in the pharma space would be an added advantage. The role is ideal for senior associates at law firms who wish to move in-house for enriching their business knowledge and also for in-house counsels who aspire for an impactful legal career in the pharmaceutical industry
• Digital literacy, familiarity with IP, Data Privacy matters will be a strong advantage
