Kent is on the hunt for an energetic and meticulous Legal Commercial Contracts Manager to join our dynamic and vibrant global legal team! This pivotal leadership role is perfect for a legal expert with a flair for strategy, a passion for precision, and a vision for innovation. As the Legal Commercial Contracts Manager, you will be at the heart of our operations, crafting, negotiating, and overseeing contracts that drive our business forward embracing technological and innovative delivery solutions.
Your Responsibilities

  • Develop and Lead a High Performing Team: Establish
    , frame, and grow a world-class commercial contracts team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Recruit, mentor and guide legal staff, paralegals and contract administrators, promoting their professional development and growth ensuring excellence of delivery and quality control.
  • Drive Process Innovation: Develop and implement standardised commercial contract templates and streamline processes to enhance efficiency, drive consistency, and improve the quality of commercial contract review outputs.
  • Leverage cutting-edge technological solutions including the adoption of AI technologies to enhance contract management and workflow automation, continuously seeking innovative ways to improve.
  • Contract Risk Management: Review, draft and provide value-add support on negotiation of a diverse array of commercial contracts, from NDAs to high-stakes client and supplier agreements and groundbreaking partnership deals.
  • Work on global tender pursuits for a diverse portfolio of high-profile clients, reviewing and qualifying tender documentation for all types of project scopes (including a broad range of Services scopes, Project Management Consultancy (PMC), Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCm), Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC), Construction contracts, etc.).
  • Ensure every contract not only meets legal standards, complies with relevant laws and regulations but also aligns with Kents contracting principles and risk management protocols.
  • Ensure subcontract agreements contain the necessary flowdown provisions from client agreements.
  • Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work hand-in-hand with internal departments particularly pre-contracts, procurement, and business development to provide expert legal input on the contracting and bidding processes for Kents projects throughout our global footprint.
  • Be the go-to contact during contract negotiations with external partners, forging strong and beneficial relationships.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:

Qualification/ Certification: Legal qualification to degree level (Bachelors or equivalent). Professional Legal certification preferred. Applicants who do not fully meet this criteria but who can demonstrate extensive industry experience and legal competency in a similar role may also be considered.

  • Experience: At least 5 years of hands-on experience in commercial contract review and management and legal administration in a leadership role. Experience of working in house with an international energy company, international construction business, and/or a recognised professional firm in a common law jurisdiction.
A track record of establishing and developing high-performing teams.

    Deep understanding of contract law and legal terminology together with demonstrable experience in reviewing, drafting and negotiating a diverse range of commercial contracts, particularly in the energy sector.
  • Strategic Acumen: Skilled in creating and implementing strategies and using knowledge to inform strategic decisions and innovation.
  • Dynamism: Excellence in organisational qualities with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment without compromising quality.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous in reviewing contract terms and conditions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Analytical Thinking: Capable of assessing complex situations, problem-solving and developing sound legal strategies with strong analytical skills.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and external parties.
Teamwork: Proven ability to inspire, mentor, and develop team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
Communication:
Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.
