Reuters is looking for a Learning Specialist with a strong background in news to help journalists in the Bangalore bureau develop the skills required to deliver quality journalism, at speed.
The Learning Specialist will work closely with and report to the Learning Editor, Bangalore.
The successful candidate will train and coach a diverse team of journalists, ranging from newly arrived graduates to mid-career reporters and editors.
News on companies and markets in North America, EMEA and Asia are covered from Bangalore. The newsroom also reports on markets, central banks, commodities and energy and undertakes a variety of polling and publishing activities. The Learning Specialist will work in all of these areas.
The job has three key parts: designing and refreshing in-person and digital learning modules covering all aspects of Reuters journalism; independently delivering training across editorial tools/systems and journalistic best practices across multiple teams; and nurturing the learning culture throughout the newsroom, including informal coaching/mentoring as well as recruiting subject-matter experts to deepen knowledge across the bureau.
This post is a great opportunity for an individual looking for a challenging position with ample scope for personal and professional growth. We require fresh ideas and a deep understanding of news, and the techniques and tools used to produce it. The successful candidate needs to be exceptionally well organized, a self-starter and must understand that learning requires much more than passive lectures or slide presentations. They will have strong presentation skills and a passion for developing our people - from new recruits to experienced editors.
