Role Profile
The Network Project Engineer forms a critical part of the Global Network Team within Technology Services.The main focus of this role is delivery of Networks Projects, improvements and support of the LSE global WAN and LAN environments, however the role will also have some level of involvement with supporting Network OperationsKey Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of technical solutions for recurring technical issues, ensuring that long term fixes are implemented to prevent any repeat failures
- Provide timely support and tackle issues to maintain availability of network
- Ensure work projects are accurately reported and delivered within the project budget and agr timelines
- Ensure estimates provided for projects are fully prioritized, underpinned by assumptions and derived from detailed analysis
- Lead the planning, implementing and reporting on a sustained program of continuous improvement
- Deliver high quality documentation and Network diagrams to the Network Operations team
- Responsible for the project handover to the Network Operations team for the support after project release.
- Provide on-site support after the launch of the project for a period of time.Candidate Profile / Key Skills
- Work closely with business management to confirm business process and efficiency needs and an appropriate technology strategy to support business goals.
- Analyze technical needs, requirements, and state of the network\xe2\x80\x99s infrastructure design, integration, and operations.
- Work with technical management to build networks that successfully reflect business needs, service-level and availability requirements, and other technology parameters.
- Develop design principles, models, plans, internal standards, budgets, and processes based on industry standard methodologies.
- Establish governing principles for network design and deployment.
- Participate in selection of networking technologies and products for implementation
- Lead teams of other network designers and engineers in developing detailed designs and quality-control mechanisms during implementation.
- Communicate the role and value of the network to the organization and present the case for technology investments.
- Continually update understanding of business and technology status and objectives and respond to strategic design requests as the business evolves.
- In-depth knowledge of routing and switching, including LAN, WAN, MAN and WLAN technologies
- Extensive experience deploying BGP, OSPF, PIM, MPLS, VPLS, IPVPN environments
- Demonstrated knowledge of Multicast technologies as used in financial sector
- Sophisticated knowledge of low latency switching technologies
- In-depth knowledge of firewall technologies
- In depth knowledge of Internet and associated environments (ISP, VPN, DNS etc.)
- Positive relationship and teamwork skills
- Good knowledge of Service Management process\xe2\x80\x99s, ideally ITILKey Behaviours
