The AVD Engineer will be responsible for documenting and implementing complex virtual desktop interface solutions to be consistent with the global institutional policies/procedures. A successful candidate will be a part of the global team of AVD Engineers to perform integration activities between R1 and Cloudmed systems to create a unified AVD experience. Duties also include communicating technical/complex information both verbally and in writing, establishing, and maintaining cooperation, understanding, trust and credibility between all team members. In this role, AVD Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the optimal operation of the R1s AVD infrastructure by analyzing performance, capacity planning, installation, and maintenance of Azure AVD-related applications, and supporting all AVD infrastructure hardware and software. The successful candidate must have been a part of a successful project on deployment, management, and migration for large virtual desktop user base (2,000 + users). Responsibilities:
Under a general guidance of the AVD Team Manager, carries out testing procedures and implementation plans to ensure operational reliability and scalability of AVD
In alignment with the project goals, carries out procedures on R1 and Cloudmed infrastructure access for end users and development teams
Works within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the virtual infrastructure
Analyzes existing systems and processes to recommend changes/improvements to maximize user capabilities
Works with other Team members to ensure project delivery expectations are effectively communicated and met
Provides Tier 2/3-type support for global AVD infrastructure (serves as a point of escalation for Tier 1 support)
Participate in on-call rotations and perform off-hour maintenance activities
Leads technical initiatives as assigned and acts as a mentor for other team members
Designs, automates and engineers high-availability, scalable solutions for new and existing services
Deploys, administers, and secures AVD environments for business needs (image management, application packaging, patching and deployment)
Researches, implements, and documents new tools and processes
Performs multiple tasks concurrently and responds to emergency situations effectively
Performs duties in a professional, polite, considerate, courteous, and timely manner
Understands, supports, enforces, and complies with company policies, procedures and standards of business ethics and conduct
Required Qualifications:
Associate or bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline, relevant experience may substitute for the degree
3-5 years of overall virtual desktop experience
3-5 years extensive Microsoft server/desktop administration and Active Directory in multi domain forest environment (including GPOs, JSON, PowerShell scripting, DNS, DHCP, ADFS, RDS (Remote Desktop Services), SQL)
Expertise in the Windows 10 operating environment, imaging process and Office 365
Experience creating, maintaining, and communicating complex information technology documentation
Knowledge of Azure cloud, networking, and enterprise architectures
Desired Qualifications:
Designing and supporting Microsoft infrastructure solutions including Azure Virtual Desktop, on-prem, cloud and hybrid
Experience working with multiple vendors such as Microsoft (primary), Citrix, and VMware Horizon (desirable but not required)
Hands-on experience with on-Prem Active directory, Microsoft Intune, and Azure AD, Infrastructure-as-Code deployment with automation
Azure, Citrix, VMware or relevant to AVD Certifications highly desirable
Ability to maintain the highest levels of customer satisfaction and be service-oriented
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
