Materials Organization of GE Aerospace Research is at the forefront of building foundational understanding of structural and functional materials that is translated into enabling new product and services for GE Aerospace. We use a combination of experimental and modeling methods towards accelerated discovery, development, and deployment of material solutions.

Essential Responsibilities
Problem solving across the spectrum of Discovery, Development, and Deployment of high-performance metallic materials
Develop quantitative and usable correlations between Chemistry - Processing - Structure - Property through a combination of physics and data driven approaches
Network across GE Aerospace to understand critical business problems that require materials and manufacturing based solutions; build redressal plans and execute
Constant awareness of mega-trends in the world, and the materials solutions that are needed to enable these mega-trends
Qualifications and Requirements
Doctorate degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or Physics with 3+ years research experience in Processing \xc3\xb3 Structure \xc3\xb3 Property correlations
Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, physical metallurgy, mechanical behavior and materials processing
Good publication and/or patent record.
Should be able to quote clear past examples for the following
innovative thinking and implementation of ideas application of rigorous research methodologies challenging scientific theory and pushing the envelope of understanding
Good teaming skills and ability to work with wide range of technical teams and projects.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Desired Characteristics
An understanding of solidification processes and microstructural evolution during conventional and additive manufacturing
Knowledge of chemistry-processing-structure-property relationships in nickel base, titanium base, cobalt base and/or ferrous alloys
Direct experience with computational methods as applied to the above
Expertise in microstructural analysis and representation
Ability to work across all functions/levels as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to bring assignments to a successful completion
Ability to anticipate customer needs and ensure that they are met
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
