SUMMARYWadhwaniAI is supporting the enablement of the IndiaAI mission at Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY). IndiaAI mission is a national initiative spearheaded by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) aimed at fostering the growth and development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in India. The mission is to harness AI to drive economic growth, improve quality of life, and position India as a global leader in AI.The IndiaAI Lead will be responsible for providing visionary leadership and strategic direction for the IndiaAI initiative. The Lead will work closely with government agencies, industry leaders, academic institutions, and international partners to drive the adoption and development of AI technologies across various sectors in India.Location - DelhiABOUT US -Wadhwani AI is a nonprofit institute building and deploying applied AI solutions to solve critical issues in public health, agriculture, education, and urban development in underserved communities in the global south. We collaborate with governments, social sector organizations, academic and research institutions, and domain experts to identify real-world problems, and develop practical AI solutions to tackle these issues with the aim of making a substantial positive impact.We have over 30+ AI projects supported by leading philanthropies such as Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, USAID and Google.org. • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the IndiaAI mission in alignment with national goals and priorities.
• Oversee the planning and execution of AI projects and initiatives across different sectors. Foster a culture of innovation and excellence within the mission team.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government bodies, industry leaders, academic institutions, and international organizations.
• Represent IndiaAI in national and international forums, promoting India\'s AI capabilities and initiatives.
• Facilitate collaboration and partnerships to drive AI adoption and development.

Program Management:

• Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of AI projects and initiatives.
• Ensure efficient utilization of resources and adherence to timelines and budgets.
• Develop and implement robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the impact and effectiveness of AI initiatives.

Policy and Advocacy:

• Advocate for policies and regulations that support AI development and deployment.
• Work with policymakers to address challenges and barriers to AI adoption.
• Provide expert advice and recommendations on AI-related issues to government officials and stakeholders.

Capacity Building:

• Support initiatives to enhance AI research and innovation capabilities in India.
• Encourage the development of AI solutions that address local and national challenges.

REQUIREMENTS

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field. A PhD is preferred.
• Minimum of 15+ years of experience in AI, technology, or related fields.
• Proven track record of leadership in managing large-scale technology projects or initiatives.
• Experience working with government agencies, industry leaders, and academic institutions.
• Demonstrated ability to build and manage high-performing teams.
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and build consensus.
• Deep understanding of AI technologies, trends, and applications.
• Knowledge of AI ethics, privacy, and security issues would be an added benefit.
