Role Purpose:
  • Business, scientific, and regulatory oversight of performance and specialty materials function
  • Section Lead for Polymer Projects, Project Update and Effective Communication to Client, Lead the polymer programs, Take leadership for safe lab practices,
  • Lead the team and projects to meet the business targets, Mentor, and coach the team for business and personal growth etc.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as an expert for polymerization chemistry, process scale up and problem solving
  • Strategic planning and execution of R&D and scale up projects
  • Scientific, regulatory and business oversight of specialty materials projects
  • Proactively ensures the timely execution of development projects to supply the required quantities of the polymeric materials and specialty chemicals for various studies in a communication driven, collaborative and customer centric environment
  • Mentor the team and implement systems for continuous improvement of communication, customer interaction and high-end tools and methodologies
  • Put people at the heart of our success by providing clear, active leadership defined by the Syngene leadership framework setting high standards of people management, career planning and talent retention as a priority.
  • Track and manage capital projects
  • Establish functional capabilities by setting up facilities and attracting scientific talents
  • Lead a team of ~40 scientists, Engineers and technologists for polymer and specialty material research and development projects
  • Envision and establish niche capabilities within the performance and specialty materials team
  • Ensure the technical and financial deliverables of the team
  • Track and manage capital projects

  • Champion effective Environment, Occupational Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHSS) practices for the company and oversee compliance with those practices within Biologics business. Play an active leadership role in monitoring and verifying safety performance through Gemba walks and other safety-led activities.
  • Foster a corporate culture that promotes an environment, occupational health, safety, and sustainability (EHSS) mindset as well as the highest standards of quality, integrity, and compliance.

Educational Qualification:

Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry from premier institutes in India or abroad,

Doctorate/Master\'s in chemical engineering/Polymer /Chemical technology.

MBA or Diploma in management is preferred, not mandatory.

Experience: 15 yrs of experience in polymer or allied industry. Experience with medical device or medical polymers industry will be an added advantage.

Experience: 15-20 Years

Technical/Functional Skills:
  • Experience leading multiple programs on Polymers & specialty material development at various scales
  • Experience handling various polymerization projects. Scale up the process from gm to multi Kg scale
  • Broad understanding of material characterization and analytical methods
  • Excellent communication and customer interaction skills
  • Experience handling P&L of programs.
  • Prior experience establishing facilities and teams for polymerization processes/scale up.
  • Excellent communication, networking, and customer interaction skills
  • Ability to attract, motivate, train, and retain scientific talent.
  • Ability to lead mid-size cross functional team (~40)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in an emerging business area.
