As a DNS Architect/Engineer at SITA, you will be working with Infrastructure Cloud Engineering teams and Architects on various assignments that use Cloud technology and automation to tackle large-scale challenges with responsibility for ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of our DNS systems, playing a crucial role in our IT infrastructure. As a highly skilled DNS Architect/Engineer you will have experience designing, implementing, managing and optimizing our DNS infrastructure and will possess a deep understanding of DNS technologies, network principles and security practices.WHAT YOULL DO

  • DNS Architecture and Design: Includes designing and implementing DNS architecture, (including internal and external DNS), ensuring high availability, scalability, and security; developing and maintaining DNS zones (including forward and reverse lookup zones; establishing naming conventions, DNS policies and best practices.
  • DNS Management and Operations: Manage and maintain DNS records, zone files, and configurations across multiple environments; oversee DNS server deployment, configuration, and maintenance on both on-premises and cloud platforms; monitor DNS performance and resolve issues related to DNS resolution, propagation, and other DNS-related incidents.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement DNS security features (DNSSEC) to protect against attacks such as spoofing and cache poisoning; ensure DNS infrastructure complies with industry standards, regulations, and organizational security policies; collaborate with the cybersecurity team to identify and mitigate DNS-related threats.
  • Automation and Scripting: Develop automation scripts to streamline DNS management tasks, such as bulk updates and monitoring; utilize infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools to manage DNS configurations, ensuring consistency and repeatability.
  • Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Develop and maintain DNS backup and disaster recovery plans, ensuring rapid recovery in the event of failure; test failover mechanisms and recovery procedures regularly to ensure DNS availability during emergencies.
  • Collaboration and Support: Work closely with network and cloud infrastructure engineers to integrate DNS with other infrastructure components; provide technical support and expertise on DNS-related issues to internal teams and end-users; mentor and train junior staff on DNS management and best practices.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain detailed documentation of DNS configurations, procedures, and infrastructure; generate regular reports on DNS performance, uptime and any security incidents.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest DNS technologies, tools, and best practices; recommend and implement improvements to the DNS infrastructure to enhance performance, security, and scalability.
QualificationsABOUT YOUR SKILLS
  • Required deep understanding of DNS technologies, networking principles, and security practices in order to ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of our DNS systems.
  • 3-4 years experience in DNS management, network engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience designing and managing DNS architectures in complex environments.
  • Proficient in scripting (e.g. Python, Shell, PowerShell) and automation via CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiarity with cloud DNS services (e.g. AWS Route 53, Azure DNS, Google Cloud DNS) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related field. Relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
NICE-TO-HAVE
  • Certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CISSP, Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
  • Experience with large-scale DNS implementations or multi-cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, etc.) and load balancing technologies.
