Roles and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible to:
• Identify, evaluate, introduce, and manage the development of hardware/software platforms for delivery of real-time and expanded-time transient simulation models for GE gas turbine, steam turbine and/or combined cycle power generation equipment and carbon capture plants.
• Lead the development and maintenance of new transient simulation models for GE combined cycle or carbon capture equipment, from NPI (New Product Introduction)/ conceptual design through field verification.
• Deliver new modular simulation concepts for gas turbine, steam turbine, heat recovery steam generator (HRSG), power plant auxiliary systems and carbon capture plants.
• Support requisition teams in application of simulation/models to verify control software and NPI applications.
• Execute simulation studies in support of business critical NPI/RTS (Readiness to Serve) programs.
• Drive Lean thinking to provide high fidelity, easy to use simulation capability for a broad range of power system applications.
• Leading NPI and/or Development projects or simulation studies with moderate risks. Explaining difficult or sensitive information; working to build consensus.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering, Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical or related engineering
• Minimum 9 to 10 years of experience in:
• System Design, Operability, Performance Engineering, Simulation/Modeling or Controls Engineering of any the following Combined Cycle Power Plant or Carbon Capture Plant Components, in any combination:
• Steam Turbine
• Gas Turbine
• Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG)
• Balance Of Plant (BOP)
• Electrical Systems and/or Grid Interface
• Carbon Capture Plant
Desired Characteristics:
• Master of Science (MS) in engineering
• Experience with transient simulation and simulation software packages such as Easy5, Simulink, ModelOn
• FORTRAN, C/C++, Python programming languages.
• Familiarity with gas turbine, steam turbine, or power plant simulation/controls.
• Strong leadership skills, keeping team focused and innovating through dynamic business cycle
• System Integration mindset within the Thermal Engineering community for meeting customer demands
• Excellent communication skills with ability to sell technology through simple and clear messaging
• Ability to connect with team, sharing commercial strategies and connection to end customers
• Lean mindset, acting on feedback, driving productivity initiatives for business results and personal engineering satisfaction
• Drive ownership and incorporate lessons learned into the standard work strategies
