Summary Impact Dynamics is the critical domain in aircraft engines as it corelates directly to design and certification. The main objective of the Impact Dynamics team is to minimize the need for engineering tests & build confidence with the regulating bodies to allow certification by analysis.
The main responsibilities are to provide accurate pre-test prediction for Impact tests to avoid surprise in component tests and engine certification (Fan Blade Out, containment, bird/ice impact etc.). Develop LS-Dyna as a design tool for Design Optimization - weight/cost reductions, MRB issue resolution, and Field Fixes & Advance state of the art and leverage the knowledge base across GE through Documented standard work/Best-Practices. Engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents, pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing.Role OverviewEnsure on-time program deliverables for NPI/Sustaining/ New Technology programsDesign, develop & validate methods/algorithms and software in Impact Dynamics DomainStrong collaboration with the project team, GE Partners & onsite/offsite vendor groupsWork collaboratively with Tech Lead and Team Manager for risk resolution & project managementMust be a team player with good problem-solving and presentation skillsRequired Qualifications:Bachelors/ Masterxe2x80x99s/ PhD Degree in Mechanical/Civil/Aerospace Engineering or equivalent with minimum 4 years of relevant experienceSuccessful demonstration of impact dynamics skills in solving an industry problemExperience in developing Impact dynamics methods, algorithms & softwareProficiency in using any CAD (NX), CAE/FEA (ANSYS, Hyper Mesh, etc.) and Explicit Dynamics (LS-DYNA) softwarePreferred Qualifications:Experience in aerospace/energy industry with sound knowledge of Mechanical/Structural Analysis, Rotating components & Composite materials.Demonstrated awareness of industry and technology trends in aerospace & data scienceAbility to develop, modify and utilize custom computer codes in various languages such as ANSYS APDL, LS-Prepost cfile, NX, Fortran, C/C++, VB.net, VBA, TCL/TK,ML & AI etc.Exposure to software development & testingExposure to LEAN & Agile principlesDemonstrated skill in the use of Python, Fortran, C, C++ and VB.net for engineering applicationsDesirable QualificationHumble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learnTransparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructivelyFocused: quick learner, strategically prioritizes work, committedLeadership ability: strong communicator, decision-maker, collaborativeProblem solver: analytical-minded, challenges existing processes, critical thinkerAt GE Aerospace, we have a relentless dedication to the future of safe and more sustainable flight and believe in our talented people to make it happen.
