Job Description

Job Role: Lead Discipline Engineer - From Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) firms

Responsibilities

Policies, Processes and Procedures-

- Initiate and contribute to formulation and updation of design guides and standards aligned with overall Engineering level policies, and

monitor their adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled manner

- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of policies, processes and procedures taking into account leading practices,

improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement

- Oversee day-to-day activities to ensure compliance with stipulated policies and procedures and take action in case of any non-compliance

Basic Engineering

Collaborate with internal stakeholders (technology team, project teams) and external stakeholders (external technology licensors), to

lead the development of the basic engineering package for assigned project (greenfield project / revamp project)

- Review the documents shared the by technology licensors to ensure they are complete, and meet the Company guidelines and standards

- For assigned projects, ensure basic engineering package is complete with all details and deliverables (for example: compressor data

sheets, PFDs, PIDs, heat and mass balance,etc) and all details / inputs required for detailed engineering phase are available

- Provide inputs and support on the estimation and allocation of engineering resources (lead engineers, engineers) across projects, to

ensure adherence to project standards (timelines, budget, quality)

FEED (Frond End Engineering Design)

- Lead the development of FEED package in which critical parts of the process plant are further developed (for example: developing the

thermal design, furnace process design); Enhance the basic engineering package i.e. develop engineering designs for smaller elements

(vents, drains, boards, other connections, etc.); ensuring adherence to set quality standards and guidelines

- For assigned project, lead the development of the detailed engineering design for pump hydralluics,compressor control, critical network

development, etc., and ensure proper hand over of this package to the detailed engineering phase

- Provide support and inputs in the Identification of opportunities for value engineering (for examples how to optimise process

configurations, how to reduce plant capex, etc.) and lead the implementation of these across multiple projects

- Lead the mapping of process requirement with other disciplines to ensure the design is as per requirements and no inter-disciplinary

design issues are there (for example fluid code, pipe classes are selected as per the requirements)

Detail Engineering

- For assigned project, based on the inputs received from basic and frond end engineering phase; lead the development of the detailed

engineering design and issue of documents for further downstream engineering teams and then support issue of documents further to

procurement team and construction team; ensuring adherence to set quality standards and guidelines

- Provide inputs and support in the estimation and allocation of engineering resources, to ensure adherence to project standards

(schedule, timelines, budget, quality)

- For assigned project; Ensure quality and safety standards & codes are followed across the life cycle of the project

- Lead the identification and implementation of improvement initiatives for own projects, (quality or safety related) (for example selecting

right piping material based on pressure, temperature of the system)

- Lead the collaboration with other downstream engineering disciplines, and ensure design documents are prepared and issued to them as

per project standards (for example issue of P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram), IFD document for any equipment like vessels,

columns, heat exchangers, etc.)

People Management

- Lead a team of 4-5 members working on assigned project

- Set performance objectives of own team, evaluate / appraise team members and provide regular feedback & guidance

- Guide, mentor and develop own team to take larger and complex responsibilities

- Provide inputs and support in the evaluation of training and development requirements for own team and make recommendations for

learning interventions

KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES

Education Qualifications - Bachelors / Masters degree in Chemical Engineering

xperience (Must Have

& Good to Have)12 to 15 years of experience
