As a PostgreSQL Engineer, you will lead the design, development, optimization, and migration of our PostgreSQL database systems. You will collaborate closely with our product management, engineering, and operations teams to ensure the successful migration of existing systems and the ongoing enhancement of our database infrastructure to support our product roadmap.Key Responsibilities:
1. Database Design and Development:
o Design, develop, and maintain PostgreSQL databases
o Create and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions
o Design and implement database schemas, tables, and indexes to support business requirements
2. Database Migration
o Execution of database migration projects from legacy systems to PostgreSQL, ensuring alignment with product requirements and business objectives
3. Performance Tuning and Optimization
o Monitor and analyze database performance
o Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks
o Implement best practices for database performance tuning and optimization.
4. Data Management:
o Ensure data integrity, security, and availability
o Develop and maintain data backup and recovery plans
o Perform database migrations and upgrades
5. Collaboration and Support:
o Collaborate with application developers to design and optimize database interactions
o Provide technical support and troubleshooting for database-related issues
o Participate in code reviews and provide feedback on database-related code
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot database issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions
6. Documentation and Compliance:
o Create and maintain documentation for database designs, configurations, and procedures
o Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations
o Stay current with PostgreSQL features, updates, and industry trends, and recommend improvements to our database infrastructure and processesQualifications we seek in you!
Minimum Qualifications / Skills

  • Education:
o Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience:
o years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL database development and administration preferably in product organization with deep understanding of product engineering & development lifecyle
  • Soft Skills:
o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
o Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
o Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications/ Skills
  • Technical Skills:
o Strong proficiency in SQL, including complex query writing and optimization
o Strong understanding of database design principles and normalization
o Experience with performance tuning and query optimization
o Knowledge of database security best practices
o Familiarity with backup and recovery strategies
o Hands on experience with database migration and upgrades
  • Tools and Technologies:
o Experience with PostgreSQL tools and utilities
o Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
o Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus
  • Good to have Qualifications:
o Experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL)
o Knowledge of other database systems (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, T-SQL)
o Experience with data warehousing and ETL processes
o Experience with MSBI tools like (SSIS, T-SQL, SSRS, SSAS)
o Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
